Bottle poured a cloudy reddish-brown with a medium off white head that has pretty good retention. The beer has a strong aroma of raisins, dark fruits and sweet malts. Medium sweetness very malty and fruity. More raisin flavors and phenols and a little bit of smokiness and small hops bitterness. Yeasty and dry. A little warming effect from the alcohol. Full bodied and thick on the palate. Slightly more bitter in the finish.

SPDickerman (325) - Texas, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Pours dark, muddy brown with a large, fluffy tan head. Smells strong and malty with some hoppy tones underneath. Tastes sweet, malted, with a bit of earthy-bready flavors and slight hop bitterness. Full-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture and decent mouth-carbonation, Bornem Dubbel finishes with what could be described as an almost cloying sweetness.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 10/20/2011. The beer is a dark mahogany color with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, yeast and figs. Medium body with a malty character and flavors of caramel, dark fruits, and nuts. The finish is roasty malt and cherries. Above average overall.
