smith4498 (822), Miami, Florida, USA Jan 29, 2008 Bottle for 6 pack Belgian sampler. Pours reddich-brown with big off white head. Taste of raisins, figs, caramel? Sweet but thin. An average dubbel tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Jan 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours rich, dark amber with a huge rocky off white head. Dark candied fruits, a hint of chocolate, tart grape skin and wet tree bark on the nose. Mouth filling carbonation, which actually distracts from the beer a bit. Lots of yeasty spice, tree bark, figs and raisins on the tongue. A forgettable Dubbel. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA Jan 27, 2008 Poured from bottle a reddish brown with a sweet yeasty smell. The flavor hits with a brown sugar and raisans with a good acidic bite from the high carbonation. The yeast is presents with the sweetness and a good balance with the hops. The ending is a little thin and watery. This is a good beer overall. I would drink it again given the right circumstance. schuimkroaat (391), Leuven, Belgium Jan 26, 2008 33 cl bottle, ’bbe’ Feb 08. Moderately cloudy red-mahogany, abundant off-white foam which doesn’t hold too long. Aromas of quince, coffee, toffee, with a sourish touch and a hint of mint . Very rich body with a nice carbonation. Rather sweet taste with notes of caramel and fruit with a gently sourish finish. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Jan 23, 2008 330 ml bottle from a giftpack. pours burgundy with a huge rocky tan head and lots of carbonation. aromas are very mild but whats there is nice. dark fruit, yeast, and malt comes through. ok flavours but very subdued. mostly malt with some raisons and a little yeast. mouthfeel is thin. overall it looks perfct but is a dissapintment after that. KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jan 18, 2008 Dark brown with huge off white lasting head. Aroma is sweet malty with ripe fruits. Sweet fruity flavor with raisins and light roasted malt. Lacks depth. NoiZe (1288), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands Jan 16, 2008 Pretty much like the others say: Malty and yeasty, spicy.
Too much to add, too little to say :) hughie (3016), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Jan 2, 2008 Hazy dark brown with a huge white head and some sediment. Aroma of sweet malt and musty yeast. Sweet spicy malt taste. Some citrus and a hoppy finish. Sounds pretty good, but I was disappointed with this. None of the tastes seemed well enough defined. Result was a trifle ordinary.
