COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Very dark, coffee color - full rich body - staying head - effervescent nose - soft velvet feeling in the mouth - luscious. Malt character with a hoppy aftertouch. Monks used to fast on this type of beer for 40 days! No food, only beer.

Dark Beer with great frothy head. Feels a bit heavy. A good bitterness and malt. My first Dubbel style, so I can’t compare to others of that style. Overall decent strong beer.

Dark brown-red with a thin fuzzy off white head. Aroma is figs, dark fruits, very sweet malts. Taste is raisins, licorice, figs, apples, apricot. Very sweet, enjoyable if a bit one note.

Pour is a brown with a large tan head. Aroma is fruity with some yeast and sugar. Flavor is a good helping of dark fruit with some brown sugar and caramel malts. Alcohol is no problem in this one. A good rep of the style but nothng to get overly excited about. Better than the triple for sure!

Pours semi clear maroon with medium lived beige head. Smell is caramel, fruit, almost chocolatey, a hint of alcohol and yeast. Taste is a bit blander than the nose would lead on. A bit of dry fruitiness and gummy like yeast character with some spice. Mouthfeel is that of a medium bodied yet overcarbonated, fizzy beer. Champagne like, and a bit too much. Not bad, but the carbonation was a bit high.

On tap at Rose & Crown in Palo Alto. Cloudy brownish red color with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and some yeast. Flavor is malty and slightly tangy (sour I mean, not similar to the powdered beverage Tang) with some dark fruits and spice, a little bitterness on the finish. Average mouthfeel for the style.

A murky brown with a big fluffy white head. Nice aroma with a touch of sourness to it. Flavor is fairly standard dubbel with just a touch of licorice to it. It’s a nice dubbel but certainly not a great one.

Bottle 330ml. Colour is hazy brown with some red. Foamy head. Aroma has caramel, hops, coffee. Taste is suprisingly waterish/flat, nice spices though, and hops come up in the aftertaste.
