| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 13, 2007 Updated: Jul 11, 2008On tap at the Sharp Edge Bistro. Pour is the color of root beer. Creamy off white head. Aroma is sweet and attractive with perhaps a little vanilla. Smooth and wine like, you’d never know this stuff is 8%, too refined and hides the alky very well. Beautiful lacing down the sides. No visible carbonation inside but the carbonation on the palate is smooth and creamy. Taste is exceptional for a high % alky product. Slightly tart in it’s own way. Overall quite an impressive beer. I really liked this one. Finish is friendly and nice, not a single bit of bitterness found in this refined brew. These quality beers really put the american micros to shame. mgermani (863), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Pours a slightly cloudy brown with a lovely thick & loose tan head and great lace. Sweet fruity malt aroma. Wonderful chocolate malt taste, sweet but well balanced with snappy tart hops, lightly toasted and a lingering warm aftertaste. Creamy body, overcarbonated. Holy - I drank nearly the entire bottle with great rapidity before noticing that I hadn’t rated it. Very drinkable, very good stock dubbel - nothing special, but no complaints. Solid effort! hayduke (1629), Eureka, California, USA

Very annoying. What was left poured a dark brown with a fat and foamy head that looked like swiss cheese as the bubbles grew larger. Left lots of lacing on the side of the Duvel glass. Nose of toasty malts, fruits, and mild hops, Nice mouthfeel. cgarvieuk (4171), Edinburgh, Scotland
