3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 maley1 (207) - calgary, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 2, 2011
Golden dark pour with small quickly dissapating head. Very sweet malty aroma. Nice velvety mouthfeel. Taste of raisins and figs with the malt dominating. Not bad but a little dissapointing from one of my favourite brewers.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 KyotoLefty (3480) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 29, 2011
Bottle from Asao. Rich chocolate aroma, caramel, plums, cherries, slightly acidic. Lovely pillowy and fine head on a orange-brown beer. Sweet, fruity caramel, chocolate flavor. Some acidity and tartness, a bit of roasted flavor. Nicely bitter finish. Rather light body in light of the rich flavor. Very nice, though. Love that hoppy ending.
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 AWMiller (476) - Mansfield, Texas, USA - SEP 21, 2011
Yet another great dubbel!! This brew pours up a robust dark, cherry-cola colored body and a slight bubbly head that dissipated quickly leaving minimal lacing. Sweet aromas of raisins (maybe it was figs?), caramel, molasses, spices. Serve just slightly cooler than room temperature the flavors in this brew are just incredible! Caramel, raisins, cloves. The body is very smooth, medium in heaviness and just a slight ‘hoppy’ bite with a light alcoholic tinge at the finish.
1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 Benjii (1686) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 18, 2011
Bottle from S.Brevinga Alus, Riga. Pours a Coke brown colour with an ugly irregular tan head that goes from being huge to fair quite quickly. Aroma of Weetabix, caramel and yeast. Flavours of yeast, rolled oats and cola. Quite sweet and thin with a light CO2 prickle. Disappointing drain pour.

Bottle from kegs and barrels. Pours a deep amber with a medium creamy off white head. The aromas are plums, old closet, raisins and beet sugar. The mouthfeel is dry and slightly bittersweet with a heavy body. Nice brew. Cheers!
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Zinister (1417) - Houston, Texas, USA - AUG 26, 2011
Bottle at Bailey Creek Lodge. Pours a caramel color with nice head. Nose of caramel, bread and raisins....good carbonation, but sorta takes away from the flavors.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 after4ever (4314) - Brier, Washington, USA - AUG 25, 2011
750, corked and baled. Pours a cloudy toffeeish medium brown with a dense and creamy medium-tan disc of mousse atop. No lace. Big metallic toffee nose. Creamy medium body with understated carb. Toffee, aluminum, caramel, and shortbread on the mid-palate. Cloying sweet metallic finish. Not a big winner.
