Sweet aroma on this glass, sort of pumpkin/cinnamon like as was the flavor. A decent Belgian and the alcohol seemed tame for an 8%er. Some other review say this has a sour vibe, I thought it was sweet.
Rerated 6/1/08. Above I mention this was sweet on tap. I’m having a bottle now and it is not sweet at all, much more sour and not very enjoyable.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 14, 2007 33 cl bottle. Cloudy brown beer with ruby highlights, tan head. Aroma is quite fruity. Plum and cherry brown sugar and a rotted peach character as well that isn’t especially pleasant. Flavour is quite sweet, malty with plums and cherries, light spiciness, clove/nutmeg and a great minty finish. Palate is not terribly rich and it seems a bit overcarbonated. It’s decent, but there are enough things that don’t really work for me. orville (160), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 10, 2007 Pours a cloudy brown with a frothy white head. Malty smooth and somewhat shallow at first, but finishes slightly bitter. Smooth and easy to drink, pleasant, but not the most eventfull ale. loseratheart (110), USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 8, 2007 A rather attractive brew! Pours a light bronze body… filled with gleaming edges of gold and amber; the head was a tower of an foam.
Doughy, yeasty, buttery and a lightly toasted body… Notes of toffee malt, pumpernickel bread, with some plums and apricot for the fruit basket. Decent beer but it was just as average as the label on the bottle.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2007 Bottle. Cinnamon, brown sugar, bready malt aroma. Cloudy orange-brown color with moderate head (looks more like iced tear than coffee). Sharp taste up front - bites the tongue which fades into a sour brown sugar/cinnamon bread flavor. High carbonation. LIttle alcohol bite at all. marcus (1850), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2007 This copper-colored ale poured with an immense foamy head, eliciting an aroma of fruit and spice. The flavor is malty and a bit sour, with a spicy finish. A decent, but unremarkable version of Dubbel. DarkStar22769 (100), Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 17, 2006 Poured a dark copper with a heavy rocky white head that looked like meringue. Nose was of cherries and pear. Palate is sharp but sweetly smooths out. Flavour is wonderfully complex...woody yet with a sweetness. The alcohol is hidden nicely.
