33cl bottle - pours a hazy, ruby-brown with a massive, pillowy head that towered out of the Chimay goblet I poured it into. Nice. Aroma of ripe fruit, a little bit sour, and a bready/yeasty character. Flavour is immediately sour and fruity - almost instantly reminded me of a Flemish sour ale, and this beer is sort of like a cross between one of those and an Abbey Dubbel, though the sour qualities became less present through the glass. Unique, but quite nice. Mouthfeel is nice and frothy. Grapes, plums, and some spicing in there as well. I love a Belgian beer with a good "fresh bread" aroma and taste and this delivers some of that. Otherwise, it’s not the very best Dubbel out there, but it’s certainly a good one. The sourness is different, but in no way does it seem "wrong". Left a lot of nice lacing in the glass. Good stuff!

Bornem Dubbel 12 oz bottle Soft pour in a tulip glass Unknown bottling (FL 30CD 08:55), sanctified 12/06 Poured a hazy ruddy brown with a huge faint brown fully lasting rocky pillowy fluffy head with excellent lacing. Smelt of strong roasted grain, chocolate pudding skins, light coffee, sour fruit. Taste was upfront strong sour dark cider and grape juice and dark toasted bread and moderate chocolate followed by more strong sour apple and grapes and moderate grassy hops, peppery, and roasted grain on a long finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, slightly oily, lively carbonated moderately astringent in its sourness and lightly alcoholic. Overall, this is oddly sour, but not unpleasant. Refreshing and easy to drink.

Very lively from the bottle and pours a thick velvety creamy head that looks like the surface of the moon. Red-brown in colour. Quite a thin prickly feel in the mouth. A fairly bitter taste with hints of aniseed. High alcohol content ensures a slow warming of the cheeks as the beer goes down. Not bad but there are far better "Dubbels" available.

Bottle. Sweet malty aroma. Thick head, deep brown colour. Coffee and Finnish "mämmi/memma" (sweet malt porridge) in the aroma. Extremely rich with a nice mocca texture.

The tap poured a clear dark reddish-brown beverage with an off-white small creamy head that was mostly lasting and left good lacing on the glass. The aroma was very interesting – spicy and fruity with definite raspberry notes. The body was medium-full with lively carbonation and a bit of a watery texture. The flavor started out sweet and fruity with raspberry and plum notes along with a spicy/peppery background. The finish was long and wonderfully warming.

Pours a deep cloudy dark brown color. Head is beige, huge and rocky. It lingers for an eternity leaving a big film. Excellent looking in my Leffe chalice. Aroma is yeasty, fruity and spicy in character. It has notes of plums, coriander, anise, cardamom, sour cherries, lemongrass and vanilla. Big alcohol presence. I think it’s a little harsh. Flavor is sweet and sour. Very uncommon for me. It shows hints of raisins, sour cherries, plums and spices with coffee in the back. Subdued citrusy traces. Is this normal? I suppose it has some Flemish Sour characteristics. Good body, thick oily mouthfeel. Medium carbonation, long finish, sour and sticky. A decent but weird Dubbel

330 mL bottle in gift pack from LCBO. pours cloudy light copper with a very substantial, fluffy off-white head. Aroma: mincemeat -- spices, raisins, dried fruits, woodiness. A bit of yeast and cherries. Really nice! Palate: med. bodied, sparkling carbonation typical of bottle conditioning. Flav.: very similar to the nose (yum!). Spices, dried fruits, cherries. Finishes caramel and apple cider with a bit of alcohol. Very nice.

(330 ml bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/wells/tul target=blank>Tully’s) Brown sugary sweetness and dark fruits...Pours very murky brown with two fingers of a solid-looking biege head that recedes to a thin layer. Aroma is sweet brown sugary malt, some breadiness, dark fruitiness. Mouthfeel is light but beer is actually full-bodied for style. Some light fizziness. Flavor is brown sugar maltiness, some yeast and dark fruits and hints of wine/port/sherry. Quite tasty. Mild alcohol burn in finish. Liked it.
