tommy8768 (120), Litlle Compton, Rhode Island, USA Oct 18, 2006 Murky brown with a big head. Has a sort of sweet and sour taste. Caught whiffs of maple syrup, malt and a very slight pineapple like scent in the aroma and taste. Really good. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia Oct 18, 2006 Cloudy deep brown with a large airy beige head. As the commercial description says, it has an effervescent nose that had me wincing away as I sniffed deeply straight after the pour. As the head finally dwindled away it revealed a rather bock-like aroma with beef stock and some molasses. Flavour is reasonably bitter, more than I would expect from a dubbel. Excessively carbonated, but that was no real surprise given how it started. Carried the alcohol well, but in doing so also seemed a little watery. A lesser light from a brewer that certainly has beers covering a wide range of quality. kipdynamite (11), Canada Oct 17, 2006 The head on this thing was ridiculous. A murky brown dubbel. Relatively complex, a good little beer. Stefano (1321), Esbjerg, Denmark Oct 17, 2006 Nice large creamy off white head that is fully lasting. Clear med-dark red-orange body. Sugary fruit aroma. The flavor is very malty and fruity with a nut aftertaste and a hint of molasses. The texture is bubbly. dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Oct 15, 2006 Amber, with a thin fizzy head. A bit of an off aroma, mixed with the wheat. Quite tart in the finish. chimaybier (51), Redding, California, USA Oct 13, 2006 Same same with all who have posted here... To improve the palate and head? Add a few crystals of dark Belgian Candi sugar! Great results... HighlanderOne (538), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA Oct 8, 2006 Poured from bottle - Part of Belgium sampler. Bakery aroma. Agressive head. Flavor reveals banana, molasses, hint of spice. Alc %age noticed only slightly in aftertaste. Creamy feel and finished nicely. Who needs cake when there are beers like this? tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Oct 7, 2006 Bottle rating. Last rated from the variety six pack. Cloudy reddish brown with a creamy/puffy huge head. Excellent lacing. Brown sugar, vanilla, and I detect a hint of honey. Finishes with a cocoa. Chaulky on the palate. The one thing that distinguishes this beer from the others (Brouwerij Van Steenberge) is that it is less carbonated and thus is a little smoother. A slight bit thin in flavor, but pretty decent otherwise. Probably the second best offering in the six pack I had from this brewery.
