djd07 (721), Houston, Texas, USA May 14, 2009 Bottle as shown. Pours a dark cloudy amber with a very large frothy off white head that lasts awhile leaving behind good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a spicy clove with raisin and brown sugar. Thin mouthfeel watery on the palate with a sweet malt taste with caramel and chocolate in the flavor. Hides the alcohol well making this fairly easy to drink. Prefer this to the tripel, a very good dubbel from Brouwerij. bookman10 (84), Osseo, Minnesota, USA May 13, 2009 Pours a deep, dark brown with a thick white head. Complex, musty aroma with a sweet, malty flavor that isn’t too overpowering (some of these sweet beers can get a bit cloying--not this). TomDecapolis (3128), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA May 11, 2009 Tap at the Craft Ale House. Pours a deep brown with ruby highlights and a medium creamy/bubbly off white head that left some light lacing. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, brown sugar and spicy belgian esters. Flavor of the same with some earthy notes and lots of sugary sweet malt notes. Lots of fruity Beligian esters too. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Apr 26, 2009 Bottle purchased at John’s Grocery in Iowa City. Pours a deep dark brown with a pillowy root beer float-like head that diminishes with time. The nose is of raisin, dark fruit, brown sugar and a spicy clove-like yeast note. On the light side of medium-bodied, it is softly effervescent with a mineral quality at the finish. Sweet malt notes of raisin, dates and faint brown sugar with a solid spicy Belgian yeast note in support. There’s just a hint of a fruity/drying cardboard note at the finish, but it’s noticeable enough that it’s a detractor from the overall experience. This is a solid beer, but it’s missing that x-factor that I would hope to find in a true Belgian dubbel. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Apr 25, 2009 Tasty dubbel from Bornem. Pours brown with a nice light fruity finish. Touch of malt and nice hop balance. cyrenaica (435), Milton, Ontario, Canada Apr 23, 2009 330ml bottle

I tried this beer on August 26, 2008 at “Smokeless Joe’s” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark brown with a 1” tan coloured head. The aroma was a combination of yeast, malt, and some sour smells. The mouthfeel was thin to medium bodied, with champagne like carbonation. The flavour was yeasty, heavily spiced, with a nice malty taste. A very good beer.
kuphish (150), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Apr 14, 2009 Bottle. Poured a monstrous, rocky-creamy, beige, unmovable head. Clear, ruby body with gorgeous lacing as the head slowly dissipates. Heavy malt and yeast nose - expected caramel, yeasty dough, some grape, date, clove and coriander. Well hidden alcohol - it only comes through at the very end on the nose. Medium body with average carbonation, but an unfortunate metallic finish and aftertaste that detracts from the experience. Overall a fairly run of the mill dubble that could be pretty good with some refinement. BelgiskOlklub (397), Viby J, Denmark Apr 12, 2009 Draft at Sct. Clemens Bryggeiet, Aarhus. Golden light brown body with a creamy light brown head. Malty aroma, coffee and bread. Thin watery texture. Fresh finish.
