AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 6, 2006 Dark brown in color with orangey-red highlights and a huge, rocky, tan head. A winy fruitiness in the aroma with some carame, dry chocolate, and, once again, a touch of plastic. Flavor is quite mild and the body is almost non-existent. The flavor and aroma are one and the fruitiness is strong. This could be nice with a steak. DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Apr 6, 2006 This beer pours an odd murky brown color with a massive pearlish head and a serious amount of lacing. The aroma is relatively pleasant but generally weak. Malt, raisins, vanilla, butterscotch and wood seem to be the predominant aromas...definitely erring toward the sweet side, but no complaints. The flavor is generally mild as would be expected from a belgian in dire need of aging. Surprisingly the 8% doesnt show up very much at all though comes off as a mild heat in large gulps. The carbonation is definitely noticeable as is the woody malty almost cardboardy finish. Hints of citrus and banana in there as well but we are talking a lot of malts. Smooth flavor with a citric hoppy ending...bitter but not overwhelming. I’d love to see some brown sugar like flavors in here...id have enjoyed this a lot more. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA Mar 27, 2006 Sharp carbonation killed the score. Aroma is weak but sweet and yeasty. Nice looking brown with a pillowy head with big bubbles. Flavor is weak sweet and yeast, typical of a belgian, just too weak. antzman (313), Clarksville, Indiana, USA Mar 18, 2006 Bottle. Pours a medium brown with a fizzy white head. The aroma is light, just a little sweet. The flavor is not too bad, but not overwhelming. Nothing jumps out at you. Not a good representation of the style. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Mar 8, 2006 Hazy brown in color w/ a light maltiness on the nose. Pours a tall, thick froth (medium lifespan) w/ Champagne bubbles. Light to medium nectar. Flavors of dry wood, brown sugar (not sweet), a pinch of tobacco with a lemony sour dough tropshire. Leaves a cigar smoked feeling in my mouth. Drinks better as it warms (becomes more mellow). Slight alcohol on the finish. Overall: a sour style that I did enjoy with a tuna roll. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 4, 2006 Bottle. Pours a clear bubbly dark reddish-brown with a massive lasting foamy off-white head -- looks like an ice cream float. Aroma of yeast, fruit, spices, sweet malt and mild hops. Nice spicy fruity malt flavour with a mild hoppy finish. Quite carbonated. Very smooth, this goes down really easy. Light to medium bodied. Pretty good, nothing really to complain about. Birdiebeagle (778), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 3, 2006 Bottle Pours a clear brown with a fizzy, creamy light brown head. The head lasts well and has okay lasting. Has a muted sweet aroma. I get a bunch of fruits, Raisins, grapes, plums, and a spicy touch of cherry. Has a lively carbonation and a good flavor. Has a touch of sweet bitterness. A good duration and finish. This is very refreshing. harmfuldrunk (288), New Jersey, USA Mar 1, 2006 I like a lot of head, drink this one with eggs for breakfast its like bread frothy cannot be enjoyed out of a bottle pour that ish in a glass and sip then get some head. belgian beer rocks.
