Aroma is sweet, yeasty, and spicey but very weak. Flavor is very strange, starts sweet and figgish then switches to a weird hop-dark sugar fruit mix. overall, just par. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2006 Dark brown with a thick rocky head. Aromas of belgian yeast and cloves. Nice malty flavour with some belgian spicyness. The one big drawback was that the carbonation seemed to die right off leaving the last half of the beer quite flat. Otherwise not bad. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

Aroma is faintly malty and slightly alcoholic with a fizzy mouthfeel and sour taste, not what i was expecting of a Dubbel. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 13, 2005 Pours a hazy medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty, hoppy, yeasty. Flavor is moderately sweet, alcoholic, roasty dark. Maybe I got a bad bottle, but this stuff sucked. Had it for a tasting with 4 friends and all of us agreed. Drain pour! | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 1, 2005 Bottle (330ml). Beer of Belgium Gift pack 4of6. Poured murky reddish-brown with a this fizzy-creamy-foamy beige lasting head. Aroma of sweet fruit, sweet roast malt, even a bit creamy - not terribly smooth, but nice elements. Taste is ripe apple, alcohol bitterness, mild roast malt, a bit spicy - mildly sweet but a bit harsh in the finish. Fizzy, slightly metallic mouthfeel - almost burnt by the bottom of the glass. If I weren’t partial to the style, this would be 3 or lower.
