Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England Jul 4, 2004 Updated: Aug 14, 2004Bottle from The Wine Company, Slough. Highly carbonated, pours brown with a sparse cola style head. Medium body, malt, sweetness, belgian yeasty, slight chocolate perhaps. Good. blank (998), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jun 29, 2004 From the Sharp Edge Beerfest. a very pleasent dubbel... i was rather suprised to find this, especially since i’m not a fan of the style... could have again whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 29, 2004 Updated: Jan 29, 2005Bastard gushed like crazy on me and left a big mess on my desk and floor. Has a ruby body and frothy beige head. Prominent nose of bubble gum phenols, esters, dark fruit, honey and a hint of fusel alcohols. Flavor has a slightly sour strawberry quality that I haven’t detected in other dubbels. Also has a nutty chocolate flavor. Velvety mouthfeel. Pretty good beer. I’m a sucker for this style. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Jun 28, 2004 Updated: Dec 10, 2008[bottle - Great European Beerfest 8, Sharp Edge Tavern - East Liberty, PA] Poured a dark caramel color with a decent sized tan head. Sweet aroma of malt, toffee and some fruits with a hint of roasted malts. Nice sweet taste with a hint of fruits and biscuit that blends with the malts and provides a chewy and creamy finish. matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 28, 2004 Another from the Van Steenberge Sampler 6 pack.
A rather attractive brew! Pours a light bronze body… filled with gleaming edges of gold and amber; the head was a tower of an foam.
Doughy, yeasty, buttery and a lightly toasted body… Notes of toffee malt, pumpernickel bread, with some plums and apricot for the fruit basket. Decent beer but it was just as average as the label on the bottle.
badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 25, 2004 Dark brown color with a medium head. Malty aroma and taste with hints of fruit and hops. Not much to it and kind of bland. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Jun 25, 2004 Brownish Coloring. Good Head. Fruity. I have to say I prefer the Tripel over the Dubbel....Average HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 13, 2004 Cloudy dark oragnge with great head and lacing. The nose is of sweet malt, figs, and some musty kind of smell. Some fruity and nutty notes in taste. Thin body with a watery finish.
