Dark amber color, with a big creamy beige head that disappears pretty quickly. Sweet malty vineous aroma. Flavor is sweet, malty, fruity-berries, and sour. Finish is sour and tart and a little bitter.

This beer poured a nice reddish amber color and formed an light tan bubbly head that left circular lace as it subsided. A medium amount of carbonation was present. An aroma of malt, caramel and cherries. A flavor of malt, caramel and raisins. A touch of the alcohol was present in the finish. A rather interesting flavor for a dubbel.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2011 Orange-maroon appearance with a yeasty, frothy head. Candy malts dominate the aroma with the strong evidence of marsala as well. The flavor reflected this with a candy and malty presence and desserty marsala tones with the possible impression of caramel. Re-rated 3-19-11: Love the musky yeast overtones. Deep malting, Belgian Special B, and CaraMunich. Well-rounded, flavorful, and altogether titillating.

Ruby coloured. Impressive head, doesn't last long, though. Somewhat yeasty aroma. Somewhat fruity flavour. Alcohol is well hidden. Warming finish. Pretty much a Standard-Belgian-Strong-Ale.

Brilliant fluffy head over a deep dark ruby-brown body. Head retained a layer of foam for an hour of drinking. Aroma is spicy, thoughts of a wit, then the flavor is more well-rounded--cherry struck me first, with some metallic notes, and then more favorable suggestions of raisins, with notable sweetness. Nevertheless, a bit watery and lacking true depth of flavor.

Kind of disappointing. I bought a six beer sampler pak, which also included Piraat, Gulden Draak, and others. So far, only the Gulden Draak has been worthwhile. A couple of off notes, and a distinct lack of complexity.

dark brown coudy beer. Foam quicky gone. Sweet caramel to both nose and tounge. Not very complex and not the longest after taste.

Brown with small light brown top. . .raisins and light alcohol in the nose. . .sweet malts mix with lots of fruit . . .cherries, more raisins, some pears, maybe an orange lingering around. . .palate is light, with not much lasting flavour. . .well done double.

Superb amber colour with a nice foam. Discreet aroma of caramel. Well-balanced, spicy. The finish is sweet and quite short.
