3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 lassewan (44) - Borlänge, SWEDEN - JAN 16, 2002
A bit weak and tasteless. There are better belgobeer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 trappist12 (200) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - DEC 28, 2001
Not nearly spicy enough for my palate. A double should carry more umph...
Little variation in the taste range for the Van Steenberge line.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gooner (136) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 12, 2001
Apricots, dates, prunes and nuts(all in that order). You can taste wee bits of the aforementioned flavours on varying sips. Head remains for entire beer. Root beer brown colour. Alcohol content was masked very well. Moderately sweet/rich. Malty, minimal hops. One problem, though. It left a bit of an acidic aftertaste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 heykevin (1269) - Decorah, Iowa, USA - NOV 8, 2001
This had more roasted malt flavors than any other double I’ve had. It also had sort of a weird dry-hoppines. Sampled on draft in america.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rutzicka (102) - SWITZERLAND - OCT 22, 2001
Nice head, cloudy pale brown colour. The aroma is floral and quite discreet. The taste is rather insipide and flat.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2003 Very yeasty, not my style of beer. It reminded me of Ciney and Rochefort, but not as good.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Bloemart (257) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 15, 2001
Great great great, reminds of Gulden draak, but milder. The honney flavour is very present (great).
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 15, 2001
Dryish, yeasty. A substandard example, wherein the flavours do not meld well together. Nor is it as stylish as most examples.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2003 Excellent dubbel, well rounded body & balance, dark brown in color with a good lacy tan-ish head, great mouthfeel, very drinkable, a hint of spiciness in the aftertaste
