Bottle: Don´t know if I would like to fast with just this beer for 40 days but then again I´m not a monk. Food Pairing: Smoked Cheese.

Pours dark brown w/ ruby highlights, thick head w/ high retention. Fragrant sweet malt and dark fruit aroma. Taste: notes of caramel, black cherry, roasted malt, bread and vanilla. Not quite as big or sweet as the aroma lets on. Creamy texture Still really good but a notch below some of the other abbey dubbels I’ve had.

Is a better than ok beer spritzy aroma and taste, alcohol taste is hidden. Very nice head, creamy appearance. I would definitely have this beer again.

330ml Bottle. 7% ABV. Pours opaque dark dark brown with very light tan head with nice retention and tight lace. Light sweet candy aromas, some cherry and caramel/toffee, abbey yeast and a light noble hop aroma. Medium-light body, creamy mouthfeel, medium-high carbonation. Flavours not all too prominent, though balanced for a quaffable product. Raisins , sour cherry, dark malts - touch of roast and even a characteristic of chocolate on the finish along with the typical abbey yeast character. Nice.

Pours pale brown with decent head and retention. Aroma is faint ripe cherries, little caramel, not that malty for a dubbel. Overall still is a nice dubbel!

Moderate malt- raisin, a little caramel, little hop and resin. A little dank with cardboard and cellar notes as well.

Papillon (280) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 30, 2010
330 mL Bottle. Deep copper-ruby body with a very foamy pale beige head that settles to a tenacious layer with lots of lace. Rich beery aroma of sweet malts, crystal malt, hints of raisins, prunes, and other dark fruits, an innuendo of bubblegum, and pungent hops and walnuts to cap it off. The flavor has a refreshing lemon rind sourness to it besides the sweet complex malts that speak up in the aftertaste. Bubblegum lingers in the finish and then fades off cleanly. A rare gem on the tongue.
