3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle, poured into Leffe chalice. Colour was dark auburn, small tanned head which didn’t last long although some lacing was retained. Aroma was yeast, a hint of cranberry and liquorice. Tasted cranberry, carrot and berries, yeast strain seemed to be the same as other Van Steenberge beers. Well carbonated, slightly thick body, smooth. Overall hid the booze well, which is always a plus point, nice beer to accompany a heavy meal.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
28th May 2015: 330ml bottle poured into a La Chouffe badged stemmed tulip in Southern California where it is currently sunny and hot. The first beer of a random tasting session I am having with myself and no one else. Bit of a gusher, the brew flew out the bottle to give me a murky looking dark brown bodied beer with a lasting lightly tanned head. Malty and yeasty in nature, the aroma being malt led with a toffee and chocolate hints for the nose to find. The taste follows along in the same lines with the maltiness overpowering the hops and yeast flavours. Mild liquorice also within a mini-sour note or two in the mouth. I liked it: a good start to what will be a heavy session (I hope).
