(bottle) hazy ruby-brown colour with a frothy light-beige head. aroma of powdered sugar and dandelions, with a touch of grainy roasted malts, milk chocolate and earth. flavour is mostly roasted malts, more dandelions and some floral hops, with a hint of caramel, alcohol and lots of hazelnuts in the finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Poured a dark amber brown colour with a fluffy white head that left thin lacing. Aroma of brown sugar and caramel malts and dark fruits. Flavor of caramel, plums/ raisins, and brown sugar. Medium bodied with present carbonation. Bittersweet somewhat astringent mouthfeel leading to a dry finish.

Beautiful dark reddish brown color. The beer pours a slightly brown soft foam. The smell had a slight touch of metal. The beer has a little touch of caramel, which is nice. The beer has some sweetness and bitterness, which is perfectly in balance. The taste is quite simple, but not bad.

ABV: 8% Vol.

Brown colour with red shades, cloudy; cream coloured foam, rather fine, bubbles of different sizes. Smell and taste of coffee, light sourness wich contributes to general balance. Dried apricots and prunes. Very good balance between sweetness and bitterness and dryness; body and fineness.

Fresh-ish As Bornem and again as alias Uilenspiegelbier, 33cl bb 2004 shared@ BBF ’15 Vintage Tasting ZO, merci. - Overwhelming Van Steenberge candi sugars and phenol profile of the fresh Bornem version thins out over time into: aspartame and dusty sugars, sour peach marmelade, with a leathery rather than velvet touch. Still more enjoyable aged...

Pours dark amber/brownish with a stable off-white head. Good lacing. Fairly well dubbel aroma. Yeasty, malty and mildly spicy. Something tarty as well. Also a bit alcoholic, which disturbs me a bit. Taste is mildly sweet. Clear notes of the caramel, some sugar, something roasty and little notion of the spices. However, it got overwhelmed by acidic and metallic notes afterwards. It looks like if the alcohol destroyed a lot of the taste. After a few sips, the alcohol gave everything a bit of a sour, metallic, smoked ham, foot odor kind of taste. Nothing tasty at all. Palate is far too watery for a dubbel. Clearly a miss in terms of taste, palate and balance.
