Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 27, 2002 A dark amber beer with a good head. It has a good fruit aroma and the flavor is very sweet - maybe a little too sweet. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 20, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Dark brown, very hazy - almost opaque actually. Malty but surprisingly light in body considering the high alcohol volume. Some raisins and dried fruits in the aroma too. Decent indeed but hasn’t got the same sophistication as the besst Dubbels. 060194 omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 22, 2002 Chestnut brown. Slight banana aroma. Sweetish, clean flavour. Burnt sugar and honey in the palate. Bitterish finish.
yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Feb 6, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with collapsing off-white head. Aroma is fruity. Sweet fruity flavour, light sourness too, I wonder if this was clean. Finish is much the same, quite stright forward. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Aug 14, 2006 Bottle. Brown with a light brown head. Aroma moderate malty and hoppy. Flavour is sweet and fruity, notes of caramel malts and mild spices too, slightly acidic finish. oh6gdx (8798), Vasa, Finland Apr 23, 2006 Updated: Mar 20, 2008Bottled. Hazy brown colour with mediumsized head. Aroma of caramel, malts and fruit. Also has some slight notes of alcohol lurking in the background. Flavour is caramellish, malty and toffeeish. Also some sweeness from fruits in the aftertaste. Good and wellbalanced. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Aug 27, 2004 Bottle. Dark brown colour. Cloudy. Plenty big light brown head. Malty and a little sour. Not much flavour for a dubbel. An 8% ABV beverage should taste of more. joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 20, 2006 Bottle.
