bb (2069), Martinez, California, USA Jun 10, 2006 Bottle. Brown beer with a huge cafe au lait colored head. Rich malt and date/fig aroma. Fruity (cheery/fig) flavor with rich malt and nice yeast complexity. Light chocolate. High carbonation.
mansquito (608), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Aug 15, 2008 Pours a thick head and has a muddy brown color. When the head goes down it looks like oil on water. Pretty fruity aroma. Fruity and sweet taste. A lot of malts in it. A rather uneventful double, but still a good brew. Thick body. CheersMate1 (282), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 14, 2008 This beer looks interesting. The picture has a beer with a head very white, and the beer is more transparent than translucent. Well, the picture does not look like the beer I poured. It is the exact same bottle, except the dubbel and double translation that had to be made to accompany my lack of common sense. Anyways, the beer looks like a caramel brown. I mean this beer looks like liquid caramel. The head is very nice and tight, there is not too much of it and not too little. This beer seemed heavily carbonated when I poured it, so who knows what will happen. This beer is extremely aromatic. A nice yeast and fruit flavor. Wow, this aroma packs a punch. There is no aroma of alcohol, but the sweet candy/dark fruit smell is just everywhere. The alcohol is well hidden. This beer has a sweet before and after taste. A little burn in the throat which is surprising because I did not feel any alcohol on the way down. This beer is extremely fruity tasting. Leaves a sweet taste on the tongue but the beer is just too fruity. There are not many nuances in the taste. I can taste sweet, and that is about it. Too overpowering for me in the fruit department, and the carbonation is a bit much too. The beer smells awesome, but for one of the first times ever this beer tastes just like it smells. If you want an extremely fruity beer, this is your beer. Decent brew. legion242 (1516), Richardson, Texas, USA Aug 2, 2008 A nice enough dubbel. Great head with beautiful lacing. Will revisit another time perhaps. BoBoChamp (618), Gent, Belgium Jul 20, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, yet easy to drink, hazy, rocky head, nice brew, but not a topper TEJA (71), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 14, 2008 White solid foam.
