Poured an effervescent dark amber with a large frothy white head. Sweet caramel dark fruit aroma. Taste is slightly sweet and vinous, with notes of caramel and coffee. Dryness takes over the sweetness and makes the beer more drinkable. Slight metallic banana twinge to the finish, though not terribly offensive. A simple refreshing Dubbel.

33 cl bottle, ’bbe’ Feb 08. Moderately cloudy red-mahogany, abundant off-white foam which doesn’t hold too long. Aromas of quince, coffee, toffee, with a sourish touch and a hint of mint . Very rich body with a nice carbonation. Rather sweet taste with notes of caramel and fruit with a gently sourish finish.

bottle from whole foods. aroma is caramel, mollasses, bread. looks like the picture...dark brown, huge head that sticks around. medium/light body...much less heavy than expected for the style. flavor is definitely malty, some chocolate, ..this is very carbonated, and it makes the finish less sweet. good, but could be a little more malt complexity.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours a deep ruby color with a MONSTROUS tan head. Aroma is slightly malty and sour. Taste is malty and fruity especially of bananas. A little dry. Carbonation is high but that only accentuates the fruitiness.

750ml bottle: Even after a careful decant, the beer still pours a yeast filled murky brown. The head is brilliant though - nearly three fingers and it slowly melts into whipped mounds in the glass. The aroma is both sweet and tart. A lot of carbonation gets in the nostrils, with notes of chewy caramel, sweet coffee and chocolates. Very tempting as it warms to room temp. The body is thick and chewy. The same tart note that I noticed in the nose rides atop the malty body. Jungle fruits, golden raisans and plums abound here. Finishes with a splash of espresso and chocolate. This is good.

Bottle, some months old. Huge creamy, beige head, lightbrown body. Malty aroma of caramel, chocolat, wood, raisin, pear, apples. Spicy and sweet flavour of caramel, fruits, light metal, grapes, alcohol. Nice malty short finish.

750ml, pours a cloudy brown, with a nice tan head. Flavors of honey, tangy berries, cloves and banana. This is a pretty interesting beer, nicely carbonated, but a little thin on the palate. Very drinkable and it packs a punch. If it were a touch less expensive, it would make for a great session beer.
