(bottle into tulip) Can you say disappointed? I had some higher expectations for this, given some of what I had sampled from this brewery recently. Unfortunately, this did not really live up to my expectations. Beer poured a pale amber, just a little darker than your usual American macrobrew. A half finger head fell fast, leaving a slight lacing as it did. The nose was a little of everything you would expect from an abbey style, but the alcohol was starting to dominate, which I usually don’t detect over the normal aromas. The taste was rather boring though. All of the usual complexity of an abbey was missing, replaced instead by a general malt sweetness with an alcohol bite. Not a terrible beer, but far from the best out there.

Pours bright golden with a thin off-white head. Notes of banana, bubble gum, alcohol, white grape, honey and perfume. Full bodied and alcoholic with lively carbonation. Lovely aromatics but the alcohol is intense.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy orangeish gold with a huge fluffy white head that lasts ages. Aroma is sweet and fruity with notes of melon, honeydew, cantalope, caramel and yeast. Flavour is very similar: quite sweet and fruity but spicier and with a hint of sourness. Light, tingly mouthfeel with high carbonation and a relatively short sweet finish that also has a slight metallic undertone. Not a bad tripel overall but there are plenty of other ones that I would choose over this that are readily available and similarly priced.

Reviewed 12/20/2009 (bottle coded 06/DI): Pours a very clear golden yellow color body, a bit darker than typical football beer. Big foamy head, good-sized bubbles somewhat lasting. Very fruity, somewhat floral aroma. Lots of pear and light fruit, light colored grapes. Some spiciness too. Perfumy, but almost a fake type smell. Floral taste, some fruit and some nuttiness near the end. Pretty clean after taste, some light fruit. Some harshness and some alcohol. Crisp, but I was hoping for smooth. Very fruity.

Soft hazelbrown pour with large thick head. Subtle hop and yeast aroma. Mild yeast and hop flavour, some fruity reminiscence. Not very deep or complex, but definitely smooth.

Bottle. Poured a light gold amber. Light nose with some Belgian yeast. Light flavors, and decent carbonation. It’s sort of like a sessionable triple. Then I checked an it’s 9% so careful on the session. Has a slight metallic aftertaste. But the abv is well hidden and it’s easy to drink. Lacking depth but an easy drinker. Not bad.
