sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Nov 9, 2006 Bottle. Cloudy, with a color that’s stumping me--- basically a dirty light brownish orange yellow amber. White and foamy saliva-like head quickly disappears leaving no lacing whatsoever. Aroma of cantaloupe, butter cookie, banana, citrus, vanilla and spice. Complex flavor of biscuit malts, lemon, banana, honey, orange zest, herbs and musty yeast, with some alcohol sprouting up now and then. However, palate was too thin and soda-like to fully support the flavor profile. A more buttery texture would make this great. All in all, for a real Belgian Tripel this leaves me unsatisfied.
jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 9, 2006 bottle unknown year? Good aroma with a very cloudy look and decent head that stays. Flavor is good with a crisp flavor and lite alcohol taste. Good after taste. Good Tripel. daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada Nov 4, 2006 Frothy white head, one finger width with pure gold colored carbonated body. Sweet corn and yeast alcoholic aroma. Flavor of corn, pear and barley malt with definite alcohol presence for a very dry finish. Mouthfeel was permeated by the alcoholic bite throughout the beer’s consumption. This beer’s personality would be accurately described thus: Too proud for an abbey trippel... A little more modesty please. tomthompson89 (1460), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 22, 2006 again another nice belgian, not my fav triple but a nice one. Again had it at Smokeless Joes, Hope thats ok with everyone. nice head yeahsty a little high on the alcohol flavour Arayaga2 (933), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 21, 2006 Great pear aroma, on a whatever yellow beer with a big white head. Taste is sweet and a bit astringent. $3/11.2oz HighlanderOne (538), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA Oct 21, 2006 Poured from bottle - Belgian sampler. Smells just like white wine. Cloudy, wheat-like appearance, with persistent, whipped cream head. Flavor, at first, seems like a beer/wine hybrid, malt and grape notes compete with each other. The Beigian ale qualities arrive about 1/3 of the way in, with notes of yeast, bread, banana, alcohol and spice appearing and taking over. Tastes better with each sip. Finishes with you wanting more. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Oct 5, 2006 Somewhat muted aroma, what’s there is lightly musty and yeast-smokey. I liked the throwback label. LIghtly hazy yellow, big white cushiony head which lasted a couple of minutes and then sublimed away quickly. Astringent, chemical, dry, very fizzy. Some light sourness. Nothing doing here, didn’t do well back-to-back with the Augustijn, which was a much sturdier. Medium body, finishes out with a lagerish nastiness. There’s actually a chance that this beer may have gotten some bad yeasties in it, but I wouldn’t count on it. A bit cidery-sour on the lips. FezMonkey (268), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 3, 2006 Cloudy amber color with a decent sized foamy head. Malty aroma with banana flavors. The strong alcohol is present but not overpowering.
