2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Benzai (2298) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JUN 23, 2011
Golden color with white head. Smell malts and something I don’t like but don’t know what it is. Taste is hard to tell, too much carbonation masks it.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jkwood04 (1207) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 20, 2011
11.2oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours dark golden with a thick, lacy, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, sweet light malts, light hops, and some alcohol. The alcohol stands out in this beer, but it’d be better if it were covered up more. Still a good tripel from Belgium.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 RedSox2004 (749) - Pacific Palisades, California, USA - JUN 17, 2011
Clear golden yellow with a modest white head and decent lacing. Rich malty nose, lots of spice, mostly clove. Flavors are similar, and include hints of licorice and raisins. Light to medium body, highly carbonated, and a finish strong on the spice.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jjuf1853 (954) - Land O Lakes, Florida, USA - JUN 16, 2011
Bottle. Slightly hazed golden yellow pour with a white head. Spiced yeast and grassy hop aroma. Prickling carbonation on the tongue. Tartness in the taste with an off aftertaste. I liked their dubbel better.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Martinus (663) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 23, 2011
Golden tripel, white head. Aroma of malts, the box where you keep apples for winter, bit sweet, no real hops tone. Flavour is bit sweet, malts, again the slightly rotting apples, madeira. Something is wrong here. The bottle was a gift, American label, but no BestBefore date can be found. The madeira tones makes me think it is quite old, and that it’s not happy in old age.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 rougeau13 (1067) - Texas, USA - MAY 15, 2011
Clear and golden, with a big white, bubbly head. Aroma of spice, hay, earth, bread, citrus. Tastes hoppy, but not bitter, with a yeast and pale malt backbone. The alcohol is very well masked, but the heavy carbonation masks a lot of the flavor too. Medium bodied and heavily carbonated, I can almost feel myself getting gas... Basically, this is ok in most aspects. Everything is pretty muted though, and this is not in the least bit helped by the obnoxious bubbliness.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 neuromatt (610) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 28, 2011
33 cL bottle from the LCBO, served in a Trappist glass. Pours clear golden with a tall white head. The head mostly remains and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are big aromas of hops and spice, along with flowers and a touch of pale malts. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout, with notes of honey, flowers and delicate hops leading towards a long, dry hoppy finish. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent tripel, but not exceptional; it is simpler than it could be. 2011-04-28
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Hopper (751) - The Alamo, Texas, USA - APR 26, 2011
11.2 oz. brown bottle. A clear golden beer with a big head with big separation between the bubbles. The aroma is slightly fruity, and some yeast. The taste has light colored fruits, peach, apricot. It really fizzles on your tongue and feels as if it pops in your mouth. Its almost tastes like apple juice but the kind where they mix other fruits in to save on costs.
