Stubby bottle, pours bright pale yellow gold like a pale ale or lager with a lot of very white bubbles, resembled Duvel but not quite as gold, faint yeast and citrus sour scent with a flower bouquet, faint wood fruit scents, tart on the tongue, lots of carbonation in the mouth, sour taste with pale malt flavor and faint sweetness, light on the palate, lemon and faint lemon peel flavors, some pilsner malt taste, dry on the palate, this ale is a dry tart drink, pouring the sediment in added a bread taste to the beer, I found the alcohol well hidden in the nose and mouth but it revealed itself in the mouth as it warmed up.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 nearbeer (2572) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - APR 3, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2008 Cloudy pear and honey color, with large white lasting head (bottle spewed like some homebrew upon opening). Aroma is sweet grape-apple wine with honey. Flavor is similar, with more alcohol and some toffee thrown in. Some drying, warm alcohol and slight hops on the finish.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 CigarsLoveBeer (153) - Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2007
Bottle: Cloudy, pale orange color with white head. Sugar cane and sweet malt dominate this aroma early. Yeasty qualities start to show up too, as well as spices and some light grassy notes. In the mouth, this beer starts out very sweet, cream like in flavor and mouthfeel. Becomes progressively dryer from there, with yeast and ester notes and a rise in the carbonation. The alcohol hits right before the swallow and mixes well with the flavors that follow. These include spices, grass, esters and yeast. This mix of flavors make for a very enjoyable, strong finish to a fine beer.

this is one crazy assed beer. A more experienced tongue than mine may really love it. There is something of honey in it, reminescent of other Belgians made by La Binchoise, i believe. There is an exceptional taste in there, but, for me, it is a bit ’run over’ by the strength of the alcohol itself. I can’t decide whether the alcohol flavour is on purpose or not. I have certainly drank higher octaned beers before; many with less of a boozy smack.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2007 Clear yellow/golden color. Frothy thick creamy head that lasts for ever. Nice spic citrus aroma. Flavour is spicy, and crisp. A nice tripel, nothing mind blowing or revolutonary, but a nice solid beer.
