kgustaf (17), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA Nov 22, 2005 Citrus dominates the tongue to start, then a dryness reminds one of champagne, foamy head lingers long after the first sip, truly golden color, nice play between malt and hops, I couldn’t believe the alcohol content after the taste, but it does feel warm in the belly pivnizub (4953), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Nov 22, 2005 Bottle: Hazy, yellow coloured with a touch of orangey, thin foamy layer; fruity nose (mainly pears and peaches) with traces of alcohol and yeast; intial sweet and fruity taste, mild sweetish flavour; pears, again, in the fruity and a bit tart finish; warming and tasty, quite well hidden alcohol and relatively light bodied for a brew of that strength. Habanero (610), Tranbjerg, Denmark Nov 20, 2005 Large white, lasting head. Orange colour. Perfumed arome with some yeast. Sweet alcoholic flavour with notes of citrus. Little hoppy finish. Avarage belgian trippel. Padron4KM (400), Chandler, Arizona, USA Nov 19, 2005 11.2 oz stocky brown bottle, poured into a trappist glass.
Hazy light yellow/pale golden, big fat rocky white head. Lively carbonation. It’s been sitting in the glass for more than 10 min and there is stil tons of tiny champange like bubbles trailing upwards along the edges of the glass.
Apples and yeast in the aroma as well as a whisp of alcohol here and there.
Flavor is slightly sweet and fruity with a spicy peppery finish. alcohol was hidden well in the begining but became more noticable as it warmed. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Nov 18, 2005 Bottled. Pours a hazy yellow color. Big white foam on top. Too big for my liking. Aroma consists of alot of yeast with a little bit of alcohol. A little bit of apple juice as well. Flavor is somewhat bitter and is yeasty. Quite a bit of spice. Some grains as well. Alcohol is well hidden considering the 9% alcohol. A little lacking in depth, but still it is not bad. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Nov 9, 2005 Updated: Apr 18, 200633 cl bottle. Yeast in bottom. Golden colour with a huge fizzy head. Sweet spicy aroma with notes of yeast and alcohol too. Sweet malty flavour with notes of spice, yeast alcohol and ends up little sour. bombshelter (349), Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 8, 2005 bottle from whole foods. lots of fruit in the aroma. clear gold with big white head. medium body, with a lingering sweet finish with a hint of hops. there are better tripels for sure, but this ain’t bad. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 8, 2005 Strawberries, bananas, cherries and kiwi in the pleasantly fruity, yeasty nose. Hazy golden body is topped by a generous, fine bubbled, white head that lasts throughout. Yeast character is strong - cake dough and plenty of berry like fruits with some candy sugar, honey, leafy (parsley-like) hops and mild finishing bitterness. Sweet nutty flavour lingers pleasantly in the aftertaste. Medium body is quite dry with lively carbonation that engages the tongue and mild alcohol warming. How does this get rated so low? Tulip glass. Allowed to warm from fridge temperature. Bottle (BB 04/02/06, Bieropholie, Apr-05).
