Aroma of sour grape and a little yeast. Flavor starts tangy and spicy with some fruity tartness (grape skin, green apple) and a lightly sour dry finish. Lively carbonation complements the flavor combination. lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium

Intens gold-blond beer with a faint hazyness and a huge white head. Nice aroma’s of blond malts, honey, white stonefruits, dry cakes and hops. Mouthfeel is very lively and refreshing. It has an attack of malts, some white candy sugar, apricot, citrusskin, bread and a dry touch of fine hops. This beer has a mild-dry caracter with a good integration of the alcohol. tupalev (2611), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Odd citrusy spice aroma...I can’t place it, like an old banana mixed with pear or something. Weird. Taste is initially boozy and then more spiciness comes through, but so does an odd, not metallic, but something close. Like a musty taste I guess. Way to carbonated mouthfeel and an unpleasant finish from the odd taste. The first of this gift pack I really didn’t enjoy. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jan 25, 2005 Poured golden yellow with tight white head. Aroma of yeast, kind of like a larger. Tasted like an American large, dare I say bud, but with a pleasant spice after taste. I am not enjoying this, I am forcing myself to drink this, as my wife got it for Christmas, and I feel it might have cost some $ being Belgian and all. No, it is just not that good. I cannot recommend this, sorry. Also has a bit too much carbonation. thevulcan (16), England

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 20, 2005 A strong gold body is topped by a sizeable white head. This one doesn’t boom like the one on the dubbel did. Instead it pours to a couple of fingers and then when you turn to rinse out the bottle it grows up to fill the glass and more to stand stifly in meringue peaks above the rim. The aroma is slightly weak, there’s a bit of hay maltiness and a vague herbal quality that could almost pass for dried garlic. There’s also a decent amount of esters, but they’re faint compared to the dubbel. The flavor is much drier than the dubbel, but lacks the complex fruitiness of the darker beer. Easy drinking, but a little boring. JadoreBlanche (114), London, Ontario, Canada

Aromas of spice, and citrus....possibly pears??, Alcohol is definately present as well as in the taste. Flavors of citrus and bitterness. Fairly smooth for the alcohol content. Was definately enjoyable!
