YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2004 Clear yellow with ample white foamy head. The aroma was a blend of sweet and spicy, Mouthfeel was mellow and smooth but without much life. Spicy taste with elements of sweetness and an alcohol punch. Not bad as far as Belgians go. rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Sep 19, 2004 Lighty cloudy gold w. a very thin head. Aroma is musty grapes, rasins, bubblegum. Quite tart - oakey, grapes, tannins. Very dry lingering oak finish Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 18, 2004 Fruity nose. Pineapple, citrus rind, light toffee, hops, some sourness. Hazy dull light amber with foamy white lacing head. Medium body with heavy carbonation. Starts citrusy and bitter, almost an off-flavor, with chalky yeasts and very little sweetness. Finish is still rather bitter, with medium acidity. Citrus, chalk, yeast. Alcohol is present. After is chalky bitter with some bread and citrus. Not a very good tripel - may be abused. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 15, 2004 Updated: Oct 22, 2005This pours a hazy golden color, highly carbonated, with a lasting, small bubbled head. A mild, bitter fruit aroma. Tastes slighly sweet, bubbly in the mouth. A dry hopped finish.

jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Sep 12, 2004 Hazy gold with a large white head. Faint
aroma of malt and yeast. Initial sip is
somewhat tart, almost ciderlike then
quickly drying. Flavor of malt with a kind
of musty/earthy notes. Mildly hoppy on
the finish. Cobra (1060), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA Aug 22, 2004 11.2 oz. / 330 ml. stubbie brown Belgian bottle. Part of a six pack of Belgian ales I bought at Rips. No freshness date seen, but none needed at 9% ABV either. Very fresh product here. Loud ppfffttt when opened. Almost like a bottle of fresh Coca-Cola. Poured out a pale golden yellow color, with a humongous white head at first. It slid back to lumpy islands of yeast floating on a sea of beer. Aromas are pretty much non-existent. Smells a little soapy to me.
Other than that, I can’t smell much. Slight maltiness about it, but nothing overpowering. Flavors are of fresh malts, slight horse blanket, and citrus. No alcohol aromas or flavors, same goes for the hops. Maybe a slight tang of Hallertau hops, but other than that, it’s not much. Slight dry biscuit flavors at the end. Very effervescent, almost champagne like. Constant bubbles rise from the bottom of my Chimay chalice, feeding the small but steady head. Finishes somewhat dry, but not overly so. A top notch triple in my book. Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2004 From the bottle at Yeoman’s Road Pub in Tampa. Served in Belgian style tulip that had Bornem markings on it.
Presents well. It looked great in the glass. Smell is forgetable. Somewhat hoppy, but muted.
All spice and orange rind flavors with some hop and alcohol finish.
Decent mouthfeel, but on the thin side.
Decent Abbey Tripel, but not world class. shoeshineboy (81), Youngstown, Ohio, USA Aug 6, 2004 Bottle...I am not a huge Abbey Fan, but I like to stay Diverce =) Poured Fizzy almost seltzer water like but the immediate Fruit and Spice aroma convinced my senses otherwise. The initial taste was bitter as the carbonation overpowered any and all tastes available in this mildly flavored yet complex belgium ale. The Citrus is hard to miss, but so many other flavors are hinting in the backround disguised by the hoppy bitterness and the warm alcohol sensation. Overall a good brew and if put in front of me again, I would gladly enjoy
