Goblincat (356), Westland, Michigan, USA Aug 6, 2004 Pours a cloudy light gold with nice white head. Notes of sour fruit, maybe some coriander. The mouth feel is kinda soapy... Starts off oily and finished with all suds. Apricot is definitely there along with sweetness similar to Champagne. This is an odd Triple. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Jul 29, 2004 Updated: Nov 17, 2007Pours cloudy mid gold with a big soapy white head. Peach coloured sediment. Aroma of light citrus, yeast and spice. Prickly mouthfeel. Flavours are distinctly fruity. Apricot and lemon. Dry and bread crusty. Apple and Champagne Yeastiness in a more recent tasting. Some pepper and a nice creaminess near the end. Grassy green finish. Tastey but carbonation could soften out after aging. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jul 13, 2004 Not much in the realm of aroma, but this is one fine looking beer. The head and lace are top notch and the bead is very fine. The palate is dry and spicy with an appetizing bitterness. This beer would make a good aperitif. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 13, 2004 Updated: Jan 21, 2005Fine head, golden colour, Spicy fruity aroma and taste. Medium body. hopdog (5535), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2004 Poured a golden color with a large white head. Light aromas and tastes of yeasts, spices and fruits. Watery body. Struck me as weak smelling and tasting - nothing special about this tripel but it was drinkable. rickgordon (3285), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 5, 2004 Bottled.
Pale golden. Fresh, dewy aroma with notes of mustard seed. The mustard is there in the flavour too as well as a rich maltiness. A bit sour and lager-like. Still full-bodied. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2004 Huge, loose, foamy white head. Clear bright yellow body with abundant carbonation. Wheaty banana esters in the nose plus some mild muskiness. Dominant flavor characteristic is a moderate tartness. Medium sweetness and lightly bitter. Fizzy palate. Typical of this brewery, this is a fair beer but not in league with the elite Belgian ales. matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 28, 2004 And the last beer from the Van Steenberge Sampler 6 pack.
I’ve got to attest to having a rather big buzz working when I finished this sampler pack. Granted I did split all the beers with LittleMonkey, but the average ABV was something like 8.8%… so the buzz was a value for only $17, then divided by 2!
Poured a golden body and a frothy white head. This had a slight Triple resemblance in flavor and aroma. Slightly herbal, both white and black pepper; mint, thyme, rosemary… very floral and pronounced! Some tart yeastiness in the finish.
Honestly… I was slightly disappointed wih this sampler pack. I was, and I don’t know why, really expecting these beers o be more interesting and have grater character than they actually did… oh well… live and learn, baby!
