33cl bottle. Pours a pale dull golden color with a big bubbly head that quickly disappears. Aroma of pear, lemon rind, musty phenol and yeast. Flavor begins fairly malty and sugary sweet with ripe fruits. Warming spices and herbs through the middle. Finishes bitter and dry with lemon grass and musty yeast notes.

Big white head on pale amber body. Aroma and taste were Belgium spice. Finish was more bitter than expected, with some alcohol taste.

Sour in taste and odor, much like a green apple. Secondary taste of honey. Nice mix of bitter and sweet, but leaning more to the sweet. Pale straw color with consistent white head, but not thick. The Dubbel was good too.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Appearance is a clear gold with a great, two finger sized head. Aroma is heavily influenced by clove with notes of banana and yeast dancing in the background. Fruity nose to say the least. In the taste I get a good bit of the yeast I picked up in the nose with the lingering breadiness I would associate with a German hefeweizen. A few moments after the initial swallow the alcohol burn in the back of the throat makes an almost unnoticed appearance.

Typical Belgian Triple with the yeast and fruit notes, rather watery though, one of so-so offering from Van Steenberge, although must better than most American style takes on Belgian ales.

The pour is a hazy straw color with a massive, white, flimsy head which settles to very little and leaves very little lace. The nose is very clovey phenolic, dusty yeast with some orangey notes, and off-notes of sweat and cooked corn. Similar flavor with more estery yeast to match the dusty notes, still clovey, still the sweet, slightly peppery, and herbal notes as well. The palate is fair with a lively carbonation, light to medium body, and a watery but creamy mouthfeel. The finish dries out a bit leaving some warm pepper, herbal tones, and light candi esters underneath. Actually the finish is the only thing the I did not dislike. Too many off-notes, watery texture for a 9% Belgian beer, and just nothing that really positive to say about this one.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2011 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear gold with a big thick white head that is reminiscent of marshmallow. As it slowly recedes it leaves delicate lacing. The nose is clean and straight up for the style. It is lightly sweet and nicely yeasty with spice and fruitiness. The flavor is light but supremely yeasty. The mlats, spiciness, and fruitiness all combine for a smooth tripel flavor. It is a decent clean tasting Tripel. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-08-2010 21:36:44
