Golden shining and soft feeling in the mouth - perfectly balanced taste - full body and heart warming, a splendid aroma, tickling in the nose - hoppy dry long finish.

From the Nice Carrefouir Belgian pack. Just completed the Nice-Cannes marathon, though outside the six hour limit, so no time, no medal and no t-shirt. Bastards. To be honest, this beer isn’t much compensation. Bog standard perfumey strong pale beer with foamy carbonation, Alcohol - hot, harsh, soapy, burning down the gullet. This is crude stuff. No thought, no originality, no finesse. I’d have honestly preferred a strong Euro lager - while it would have also been crude and lacking in originality - at least it would have been sweet, smooth and drinkable. Right, off for a nap now - bloody exhausted.

Low white head on a dark gold body. The flavour has hints of citrus fruits, but is too sour and alcoholic. This is not a beer I’d buy again.

330 ml bottle. Pale yellow color. Good carbonation. Skunk aroma. For me, it was a regular lager taste. I was disapointed.

One of the worst triples I’ve had. Light gold with thin white head, fizzy. Aromas of apple and alcohol. There’s hints of some interesting flavors in there, but I couldn’t get past the sugar. Far too sweet, and not in a good way.

Aroma is rather pleasant to the olfactory. Perhaps a little rubber on the nose. Ubiquitous pale yellow clear beer appearance. Barely any carbonation but does have a slight creamy tingle down the throat.Mildly bitter but hides the alky content well for a 9%. Overall not bad for such a high % alky content. Expected it to be more punishing to the palate, but it wasn’t. Not as refined as other trips such as Chimay , Church brew millenium or grimbergen.

Pours a clear (what?) golden colour with the typical unbelievable amount of head (more fizzy and soap-suds like than any other Belgian I’ve ever seen). The aroma is of spice and alcohol, that’s about it. It looks like a pilsner? Huh? Thankfully the taste does actually have some malts in it, but they’re wrapped in a rough mess of not-so-tasty elements. Stronger alcohol taste than usual, heavy carbonation, with a weaker body due to the lack of yeast. Over-all not very impressive. I don’t really like Tripels very much, but this one seemed like a poor example of the style even to me.

Light peach. Slighty hazy. Huge, frothy, perfect belgian head. Nice lacing with wonderful retention. The nose is odd. Mulched apples and pears. Slightly spicy, very sweet and quite musty (mild paint thinner.) I’m trying to sip this ale without smelling it. Everything about this beer is repulsive. Unbearable. After Gulden Draak and Piraat I was beginning to like Van Steenberge but I don’t know what the hell this is.

330 ml bottle. I love the bottle shape on these beers, which is unfortunately one of the few redeeming qualities of this beer. Pours a nearly clear gold with a moderate, white fluffy head that lasted until I poured my glass down the sink. Aroma of wet straw, kind of stale actually, along with a bit of honey. Flavor was sickly sweet. Not excessively sweet, but sweet like in a rotting fruit kind of way that makes you seek out the Pepto Bismol to keep it nearby just in case. Lots of alcohol as well. Long, dry, acrid finish. This stuff was pretty bad. After about half an hour, down the drain it went.

Intensive aroma of late spring flower almost to intensive , similar to red wine made in Poland in mid 90s (heh ole tymes!) . Just average in look. Highly gaseous that damages the drinkability, just average mouthfell, aggressive brew. Slightly better in aftertaste but this is one of the weaker brews I had in this style in long time.

Bottled (as Maerlant Damse Tripel), thanks KimJohansen! Clear golden, minimal head. Aroma of honey and vegetables. Sweet and fruity, boldly malty and overcarbonated. An aggressivevegetable flavour ruins it completely, and it followed up by a harsh resiny bitterness.
