MBison (445), Southern Highlands, Australia Feb 6, 2008 Updated: Sep 21, 2008 RE-RATE: Bottle (330ml). Poured muddy orangey yellow with a huge, bubbly, head which was mostly diminishing. Aroma was of pears with grassy hops, lemon zest, cinnamon, white pepper, cloves, bread malts and some light notes of dried banana. Flavor was very peppery with a decent hop bitterness, dry pears, green apples, tangy lemon zest, bready malts, coriander and a warming finish. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation, a somewhat syrupy texture, dry mouthfeel and a good finish.
Skidds (214), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 2, 2008 Pours a nice sparkling gold colour with a white head. Yeasty and slightly citrus aroma. Strong yeast flavour with a strong citrus and vanilla taste. Quite spicy and hoppy. Far from my fav tripel, but still a good one. Imperial-John (113), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Nov 29, 2008 Golden with bubbles and white head that thins quickly. Nice flowery yeast aroma. Pleasant bubbly, yeasty bread taste. Similiar to Duvel. heavy (536), Split, Croatia Nov 27, 2008 02/11 0.33 l bottle @ Hopdevil, Zagreb. It poured hazy golden body with medium sized head. Some yeast fruitiness like apple and orange in aroma. Slightly winy as well. Fine yeasty flavor, more sweet than bitter, with orange, cookies, vanilla and raisins being most prominent. Thinner in body for the style, but one must admit alcohol is greatly hidden here. Shorter, but pleasantly sweet finish. Fine beer, but a bit industrial and cheapish. terrybail (185), , Ontario, Canada Nov 18, 2008 330ml bottle from the LCBO as part of a Belgian Ale Sampler Pack
The aroma is sweet and chocolaty vanilla
Pours a light golden amber with a small white head
The taste is creamy and sweet slight alcohol after taste but not too much the finish is very dry
Pretty good overall Derek881 (371), Frederick, Maryland, USA Nov 1, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a trappist glass to drink. The beer had a citrus and grainy-earthy hops aroma, with a sweet candy effect and maybe some yeast and barley too. A fairly standard amber-orange color with a thin, bubbly head that was slightly short-lived. Taste is sweet and candy-like, only a touch of bitterness. A thinner, lighter feel, without much effect on the palate; low-average carbonation. Pretty good beer, but not spectacular.
