33 cl bottle. Part of a sampler six of vSteen. beers from <a href=http://ratebeer.com/Place/illinois/oak-forest in Oak Forest, meaning it may have set awhile without air conditioning. Pours a pale yellow in a tulip glass, with a tinge of red, and fluffy white head. Heavy smell of Belgian sugars and a suggestion of wheat malts that I’m pretty sure are not there. Taste is immediately heady with alcohol and champagne effervescence, sweet and yet still pretty thick with malts. Despite having sat in the heat of a store, not much ale fruitiness here. Instead, it’s pretty well attenuated and turns dry a few sips later. Had it with some camembert cheese spread, which worked nicely. Some notes of straw, then noble and citrusy hops. Nice version of a style I like, anyway.

Bottle as "Egmond’s Triple" - brought home from a friend. Pours out in a hazy, milky golden-orange-brownish colour with big, big head and smooth body. Aroma of Belgian yeast and flowers. Taste of Belgian yeast, wheat, bread, flowers, caramel and mild spices. Flowery.soapy finish. Not a bad one.

Bottle, 330ml. Pours cloudy auburn. Aroma is much too hoppy and a bit if a turn off. However the scent deceives and the taste is very clean and pleasant. Great for a hot day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drinking from a 33 cl bottle. In the aroma I have grains, bread, alcohol and apple. The clear golden beer has a medium white head. A sweet taste, banana, alcohol. Medium carbonated.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2014 Licensed abbey beer with snow white, moussy, thick but quickly decreasing head and light golden blonde colour, clear but cloudy with protein veils after adding the deposit. Aroma of pale malts, dough, mild herbal hops, orange peel, apple, coriander, straw, pepper, young cheese and wodka-like alcohol, but also some ’chemical’ solvents. Malty, rounded onset, short sweetishness, restricted fruitiness with (too) strong carbonation, quickly turning grainy and ending in a herbal hoppy finish. Very average, another unambitious cliché beer from Van Steenberge. Used as a mother beer for a number of aliases, among which I also tasted Maerlant Damse Tripel, for the tourism in the medieval town of Damme.
