33 cl bottle. Part of a sampler six of vSteen. beers from <a href=http://ratebeer.com/Place/illinois/oak-forest in Oak Forest, meaning it may have set awhile without air conditioning. Pours a pale yellow in a tulip glass, with a tinge of red, and fluffy white head. Heavy smell of Belgian sugars and a suggestion of wheat malts that I’m pretty sure are not there. Taste is immediately heady with alcohol and champagne effervescence, sweet and yet still pretty thick with malts. Despite having sat in the heat of a store, not much ale fruitiness here. Instead, it’s pretty well attenuated and turns dry a few sips later. Had it with some camembert cheese spread, which worked nicely. Some notes of straw, then noble and citrusy hops. Nice version of a style I like, anyway.

Bottle. Clear golden pour with white head. Aroma is sweet with a yeasty touch. Taste is fresh and balanced. High carbonation. ABV is well hidden

Bottle @ Keller, steeneberge event. Pours golden with medium white head. Aroma is sweet, slight alcohol, some spicyness, yeasty. Taste the same. Medium body. Nothing special.

Bottle at home, golden beer with a medium head, aroma is some spice and fruit, some malts. Taste is the same, decent tripel

23rd May 2015: 330ml bottle into a Corsendonk badged stemmed tulip. Poured the whole bottle in, so the sediment clouded the orange/golden body somewhat. The head being a white blanket which did not hang around too long. Hops and yeasty esters rule the nose, the taste also has a hop lead. Not your typical Abbey Tripel, no malt presence in either the aroma or flavour: decent enough but I expected and wanted more from the brew.

Hazy straw color, full finger of white head. Nose is light malt and Belgian yeast. Bitter. Middle is Pils malt and some spice. Finish is sweet malt; a little flat for the style.

Hazy gold with head that holds on the bitter end. Has a touch of fruit going on behind the malts and then there is a little bitterness from the hops and then a slight burn of the alcohol. Balanced out so well that this one can easily be chugged but of course with the ABV and the price would not recommend. Once again this brewery has put out another perfect beer and once again I have to dock points on the overall because it cost too much to make it my everyday brew.

Pilsener pour with lasting head. Spicy, fruity aroma: pepper, red pepper, rosehip, hint of paprika (bell pepper), hint of cinnamon. Yeast deposit reveals spinach as well. Taste starts boozy, and develops a marsipan taste. Overall, the development is quite interesting because of the boozy aspect of the beer. First you get a hint of pepper and paprika (bell pepper), which slowly develops towards a sweet marsipan taste, which then develops towards a boozy kick. The beer ends with a sweet and slightly sticky aftertaste, which almost reminds of candy (jawbreaker bubblegum). Interesting.

Very strange tripel. I get the Belgian yeast and some effervescence that’s typical of the style, but has a strange hop presence along with almost a lager-esque/German skunkiness. No sweetness, where’s the candied sugar?! An okay beer, but not what I want when I crack open a tripel.

Couleur jaune/orange trouble, petite mousse blanche. Nez de levures belges et floral. Gout de paille, levures, notes citronnées, florales et alcool avec fin un peu astringente et fruitée. Pas une triple exceptionnelle.

Gushes from the bottle. When it eventually ends up in the glass, it is a golden colour with large aerated head. Aromas of honey, alcohol, crisp green apple, grain. The taste is very sweet - strong floral honey, apple pie. The light acidity in the finish doesn’t do enough to cut through the sweetness. Medium bodied and sticky mouthfeel emphasises the sweetness as well. Not a bad sipper but lacks balance and is too sweet.
