3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cl bottle. Part of a sampler six of vSteen. beers from <a href=http://ratebeer.com/Place/illinois/oak-forest in Oak Forest, meaning it may have set awhile without air conditioning. Pours a pale yellow in a tulip glass, with a tinge of red, and fluffy white head. Heavy smell of Belgian sugars and a suggestion of wheat malts that I’m pretty sure are not there. Taste is immediately heady with alcohol and champagne effervescence, sweet and yet still pretty thick with malts. Despite having sat in the heat of a store, not much ale fruitiness here. Instead, it’s pretty well attenuated and turns dry a few sips later. Had it with some camembert cheese spread, which worked nicely. Some notes of straw, then noble and citrusy hops. Nice version of a style I like, anyway.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2015 Hazy pale colour not totally clear. Nice white top. Pretty much flat beer with medium carbonation an everything rest but the alcohol. Drinkable but pretty much forgettable. More German Pilsner than Belgian Abbey Tripel. Disappointment, but here underrated.

Een redelijke zware tripel, een donkergele kleur, wel een goede schuimkraag.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle. Cheap from Lidl. Nose is slightly sulpherous, grass, lychee, some fruity esters, peach. It smells slightly awkward. Taste is grassy, slightly sweet, and flat cardboard taste akin to a macro lager, corriander, dry medicinal finish.
It’s not a very pleasant beer and probably the worst triple I’ve tasted. It was cheap but bad value.
