1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 Lore (413) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 11, 2013
pale goldebn colour, minimal white head; lager-like aroma; taste of sweetcorn with a lot of artificial bitterness...it’s really horrible!
In my opinion, there are two types of bad beers:
the first type is ’water-radler’ - very light, watery lagers, as if they would be a 50-50% mix of beer and water - these beers are quite drinkable (especially if you are thirsty) but forgettable.
the second type is the cathegory of bad lagers, which are made from poor materials using frequently corn and/or rice; these beers are more problematic from drinkability point of view compared to the other type - they are in the scale of very bad to undrinkable...
So, Borsodi is very close to be undrinkable...should be avoided by everybody, who like beer
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 zvikar (2017) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - JAN 10, 2013
Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Rotem. Pours yellow with a small head, aroma of metal, rice and corn, flavor is pretty rough with metal, cardboard, alcohol, malt, light body
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Kita (422) - Koper, SLOVENIA - JAN 6, 2013
Canned, 0.50l. Clear golden color with large frothy white head and lively bubbles. Aroma of light malt, grass and herbal hops. Taste starts with sweet corn then followed sour citric. Mouthfeel is crisp, finish is dry and lightly bitter. Light body, thin texture and lively carbonation in palate. Average Hungarian lager, with no fun at all...
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Cool_Bond (467) - Eskilstuna, SWEDEN - JAN 3, 2013
Spread water beer. A little smell and little taste. Not so much to taste. I’m still generous and give this decent ratings only because I grew up with this beer. Drank this much 10-15 years ago. Worth trying anyway.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 foxo82 (478) - Tamworth (via Leicester), Staffordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2012
Bottle from Wisla, Granby Street, Leicester. Now 4.5% and the word ’Sor’ is not featured prominently on the can anymore - but the official website seems to suggest this is the same beer. Pale amber with an initially good head that soon dispersed; nevertheless a good start. Aroma is slight metal. Taste is pleasingly lacking any nasty sweet malt guff often associated with this style - perhaps a Bohemian Pilsner would be a fairer description; this tastes fresh, crisp, more bitter than sweet, a little metal, dry and, most importantly, drinkable and refreshing. Really quite good.
