Bottle share at Scopey’s 10K, Croydon. Many thanks to the man himself. Sell by 1997. Dark orange / brown, hazy, small foamy tan head, light lacing. Aroma is initially brie cheese, damp cardboard and copper pipe. But settles down with time. Body is medium to full, smooth, rounded, oily. Taste is dried fruit skins, papery dryness, slightly sour notes mixing with peated whisky. Quite an experience. Interesting stuff!

Bottle shared in London during Scopey’s 10k tasting - big thanks to Scopey for this geriatric. Vintage mid 1990s. Pours unclear orange-brown with a creamy tan head. Interesting aroma, lots of aged, leathery fruits, earth, tangerine, apricot. Medium sweet flavor with some novelty peat notes, more leather, dirt, dried fruits, citrus rind. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, somewhat dry and woody, more smoke and peat, leathery berries, some grain husk. Has held up quite well. Novel stuff.

Bottle for beer #9999. It pours clear rich deep brown with actually quite a decent off-white head. The nose is rich, earthy, woody, funky, brett, some musty fruits, leather, some blue cheese which dissipates after a while and some medicinal whisky notes. The taste is rich, bitter wood, earthy, funky brett, some medicinal whisky, caramel, stewed orange, mouldy peach, fruit cake and a touch of sherbet with a lingering woody finish. Medium + body and moderate carbonation. Rich and good depth. Held up exceptionally well in my opinion. Nice funky vibe also going down, which of course I rather like. Wow.

Bottle split at Scopey 10K, thanks to Scopey 9.999K, 26/11/15. Chestnut brown with a big old beige head. Nose is blue cheese, pissy tights, fecal notes, dark fruit must, spice, toffee, dusty, cheese drops away after a few minutes. Taste comprises bitter orange marmalade, dark fruit rinds, toffee, light booze, dates, subtle barrel, funky tones. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light warming alcohol. Solid for age, Nose is a tad overpowering but mellows, great carbonation and condition for age.

One of the re-branded Mikhael Gorbachev bottles. Moved about endlessly for 20 years. Poured a light amber with minimal head. Aroma of a burgundy. Fullish body, flavour is sweet berry fruit and a hint of Port. Probably a bit past it’s best now, but surprisingly drinkable in small doses.

Bottle at the Deanso’s monthly RB tasting, July 2013. Poured a cloudy orange amber with a thin white broken head. The aroma is rich, fruity malt, a little dry and stale. The flavour is rich alcoholic medium bitter with a little sourness in the palate. The BBF date is 1994 and this is very obviously an old beer, but reasonably well preserved.

Bottle. Pours hazy copper with no head at all. Thanks a lot sic1314 for bringing this. Aroma is red fruits, sweet malts, raisins, caramel and banana. Taste is very full, sweet, lingering with some sourness. Pretty sick brew, considering it’s 20 years old.
