2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Pailhead (3435) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JUL 24, 2005
On tap at MSBF: Lots of butterscotch and light peach in the aroma. Reddish-orange with no transparency and an off-white head. Candy sugar sweetness is a little too much. Light banana and moderate apple. Alcohol is noticeable in the finish in both flavor and warmth.
4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - AUG 1, 2004
Draft at 2004 MBG Summer Festival. Poured a large sized foamy ivory head with fine-small sized bubbles that completely dissipated. Uncarbonated, hazy and a brown hue. Malty and alcohol aroma. The flavor was malty and alcohol from start to finish. Smooth palate. Medium bodied beer with fair lacing.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GregClow (2664) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 28, 2006
Draught sample at MBG 2006 Summer Festival. Reddish-amber with a faint haze. Aroma is quite boozy, with lots of caramel malt and some dark fruit and wood - I didn’t care for it right away, with it grew on me as I finished the sample. Flavour is quite sweet and hot, with some caramel and bourbon notes. Pretty well balanced for 14%, but still a bit too hot.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 auerbrau (2662) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - MAY 31, 2008
Tasted blind. 12oz unlabeled bottle (probably an 06 or 05 bottle). Surprising herbal nose. Smells like incense, sandalwood and wild wax. Indescribable. Impressive and complex. Light fruits. Pours a peachy blonde with a rim of white. Flavor is ridiculous. Tastes like Christmas. Full of orange and sage. Incense, perfume, Mexican candy, and waxy cactus flavor. Crazy pumpkin spice, Thanksgiving fruit. Apparently 14%, but tastes more like 4%. Complex savory character. Intensely flavored. Fuck, this is delicious. Amazing spice character, like I’ve never seen before. Fantastic spicing. Dry. Great amazing blend of spice and citrus on a mild malt character.Wow. This is amazing. Gingerbread and deliciousness. Complex, mature, well-aged. Thanks Sean!
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - AUG 3, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2007 Tap @ MBG, orange/amber with minimal white head. Aroma very sweet candy sugar with some fruit in the background, banana and peach. flavor is very cloying sweet like straight candy sugar with a warming alcohol presence. Tone it down it would score great, but as is I can’t drink more than a couple ounces. Rerate from the MBG ’06. Aroma has developed quite nice. Huge candi sugar sweetness with some floral notes. Still very hot but more rounded than last year. Bumped the score .6 altogether.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 OlivierMTL (711) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 19, 2005
Michigan brewer’s fest, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Juillet 2005.
