Bottle split at Madmitch76 20K tasting, big thanks to Mitch himself, 15/01/16. Murky light black with no head work. Nose is soy xauce, umami, putty, light spice, trace of cocoa. Taste comprises oxidised tones, Worcester sauce, cocoa powder, booze tunes but clearly mellowed from 22. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close finishing a touch hot bit likely not the original heat wave. Hasn’t aged too gracefully but a write off ... check it out for the tick, not the experience!

33cl bottle shared at Kenny’s 20K celebrations @Chriso’s, thanks to Kenny. It pours a dark brown color with a minimal brown head. Aroma is big sweet molasses and raisins with big vegetable note reminding me of artichokes. Taste is sweet and boozy with notes of molasses, burnt sugar and artichoke, meat, soy sauce. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, ok

2004 bottle at Ken’s 20K tasting. Thanks to the main man for digging out this old-timer beer. It pours oily jet black with no head to speak of. The nose is rich, oily, aged, meaty, earthy, bitter - sweet, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, Asian cooking, plum and Hoisin. The taste is slick, rich, wood, toasted malts, treacle, liquorice, somewhat medicinal, Jägermeister, chewy malt, burnt molasses, oxidised aspect and warming alcohol. Full bodied, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Rich and boosty. Fun stuff to try, but not something I am gonna session any time soon.

Bottle share at Kenny’s 20K - many thanks to the man of the moment. As ’Bos Solar Eclipse Imperial Stout’, 2004 vintage, 22%. Black with a small bubbly head. Aroma is treacle, soy sauce, chocolatey, booze, a bit harsh. Body is medium, smooth, oily. Taste is tangy, boozy, treacle, chocolate. Rich and boozy. Just a bit harsh. Not very drinkable, but interesting to try.

Bottle at Madmitch 20k tasting. Black beer lasting tan head. soy sauce aroma. Really quite hot. Very hot. More soy sauce bit of spice. Hmm. Not my favourite. Some minty space.

Pours black in color with no carbonation as far as I can tell. Oxidation, soy sauce, roasted malt, chocolate, and booze on the nose. Some mild fruit notes and maybe a bit of fish food. The flavor is significantly better than the nose. Quite boozy but good chocolate, roasted malt, and sugar flavors. Still has some soy sauce and oxidation, though.

Thanks riversideAK! Chewy coffee mocha, dark chocolate mocha. Rich dark brown body, deep body. Smoky chipotle nose. Very heavy woodsy body, super deep caramel, perfectly concentrated and heavy. Very chewy. Up my alley. Molasses sweetness, sticky lips.

12 oz. Thanks ak! Pours jet black; headless, laceless, and still. Big salty nose. Vodka and chocolate too. Sticky thick flat body. Soy sauce, dark chocolate, coffee on the mid palate. Sticky salty finish.

Dark fruit soy roast alcohol nose. Pours black no head or lace. Sweet chocolate soy roast sugar alcohol. Almost still strong hot. Not bad.
