Thanks to kp? for bringing this one to the tasting.
The pour produces a small off-white head that quickly diminishes to a frothy ring.
Heavy malt aroma that also includes some licorice, vanilla and alcohol.
Rich complex flavor with a slightly acid finish.

Thanks riversideAK! Chewy coffee mocha, dark chocolate mocha. Rich dark brown body, deep body. Smoky chipotle nose. Very heavy woodsy body, super deep caramel, perfectly concentrated and heavy. Very chewy. Up my alley. Molasses sweetness, sticky lips.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 alexsdad06 (2344) - Ohio, USA - JAN 26, 2010
Sampled from a growler from 03 shared at the Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice 09. This poured black with zero head. The aroma was deep roasted malts, dark chocolate, some alcohol, touches of dark fruits, soy and alcohol. The flavor was similar with some deep roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla and soy notes. The crazy thing was how little the alcohol effected the flavor and palate. This was warming, but did not register as 23%. Very interesting and seemed to hold up pretty well especially for a growler.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Sammy (6113) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 20, 2009
Drunk with the brewer, his 2003 or 2004 version. At the Winter Solstice 2009. The brewer is now at Kuhnhenn making his RIS every year. This one had a great smell, it was dark brown with light brown lace dots. Chocolate mostly, with some sourness from the bourbon barrel. Very thick. Some coffee notes there.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ungstrup (23918) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 20, 2009
Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, wood, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, roasted malt, and soy sauce, leading to a dry, roasted, woody, and alcoholic finish. Thanks CaptainCougar for coming to Denmark and sharing this.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Theis (9217) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 6, 2009
Bottle - ABW: 20%) at Papsø’s - Thanks to CaptainCougar. Black - offwhite head. Oily thick liquid - body and mouthfeeling, sweetness, chocolate, alcoholic, coffee, dried fruits, raisins, light smokey, roasted. Too alcoholic - but very nice.

12 fl oz bottle, courtesy of CaptainCougar. Pours dark brown to black with a fully gone head. Aroma is solid alcohol and roasted dark malty. Roasted malt flavoured, dark and solid alcohol note. Dry and solid alcohol burn in the finish. Way too strong for my liking.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 KimJohansen (10340) - Copenhagen V, DENMARK - AUG 30, 2009
Black with a tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with hard roasted malt, dark chocolate, espresso and liquerice. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, liquerice and loads of alcohol. Finished with loads of warming alcohol. The alcohol releay overpowered the stout here. But not bad.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Papsoe (22948) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 30, 2009
Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of CaptainCougar. Opaque black with a tiny, rough off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts and alcohol. Solid body, roasted malts - not overly burned - a little vanilla and a massive alcohol burn. More pure alcohol than Imperial Stout really. 300809
