On Tap. A good Barley Wine which may have been better if cellared for one or two more years. Too sweet and candy like for me. Finishes sticky, chewy, and thick.

Beaucoup d’alcool…Michigan brewer’s fest, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Juillet 2005.

Loved it...all 8 tokens worth at the Mich ale fest, (give or take sharing with my new friend sand man) and of course partaking in using jsquires tokens up because he was driving the Harley I was to ride on...anyway....Mich Ale Fest 05....best drink all night (twice). Lovely honey flavor, huge head, lingering finish WOW.

Courtesy KP. Pours a burnished brown. Aroma is sweet and caramel. Alcohol is very evident. No carbonation. This is perhaps the sweetest beer I have ever had. Very hot. Holy cow this is intense.

12 oz. Bottle, 2003: On a Barley Wine drought lately, haven’t like the past couple I have tried, then again it may be the style all together. Poured an amber color, flat, no head, and very little apparent carbonation (like most I guess?) Big strong sweet nose, caramel, honey, and sweet liquor. Flavor reminded me most of Drambouie, overly sweet and syrupy.

3 year vertical shared by Miketd. Thanks for the share. Super sweet and liquorlike which was to be expected. 2004 was the best vintage. Noticed a fairly large taste variation between the vintages.

On tap at Bo’s still somehow, the only Bo’s beer left. I was told the batch I tried was 23%, WOW! They have a 2 drink minimum on these bad boys. Served in a snifter glass, this one is a dark cherry chocolate color with minimal head. Aroma is a K.O. of alcohol and maltiness. Flavor is super sweet, with dark fruits, toffee, alcohol, brown sugar and bittering hops apparent as well. Palate is thick and syrup-like, and the flavors linger in the mouth well after each sip. Low carbonation. Took me well over an hour to drink this, and though it was pretty good, it isn’t something you could drink too often.

Fantastic. One of the best beers in Michigan. A good combination of sweet and bitter, very strong. Like a barleywine on crack.

(2003) Thanks to Brad. Pours nice brown color, little to no head. Taste was harsh, too much to even drink. The alchohol was overbearing and 3 of us couldn’t finish our half glasses of it because it was so offensive.
