2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BillKismet (2653) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 9, 2011
Color of deep bronze and topped with a frothy, hopped head. I was not able to tease away much of an aroma, though a muted floral hop was detectable. Slight bitter body with muted hop flavor. Soft metallic bitter note finishes on the palate.
3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rustyham (1303) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 31, 2010
Subtle aroma, almost nothing, but slight citrus, floral hops are there. Appearance is a golden amber. Flavor is very smooth, almost like an English IPA, but has a subtle, American bite to it. I really like this, it’s not violent and is pretty well balanced.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Brigadier (1837) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - DEC 31, 2010
On tap at Franklin location
The worst beer of the bunch was a run of the mill IPA. While it wasn’t disappointing the beer was just boring. I’ve had better southern IPAs so I know it isn’t a style or regional thing. Of the four selections available at the time this is the only one I would have felt wasn’t worth the price of a full pint. At least there are usually seven other options to choose from at any given time.
Aroma / Appearance - Lively carbonation bubbled like a clear golden soda. Rye bread, peanut butter, and orange marmalade were routine and somehow less exciting as a whole than they might have been individually. Most importantly there just wasn’t much depth.
Flavor / Palate - Citrus spread over a sourdough bun is safe and simple. Not changing too much over time it gets to be boring and predictable by the third sip. The lingering bitterness shows this has some legs but overall it is just lacking. Maybe if I caught it as a happy hour special I’d give it another try but at full bar prices this one earns a pass.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 drowland (3570) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 28, 2010
12/26/10. On tap at the Nashville location. Clear amber pour with a small white head. Light but nice citrus aroma with some citrus and pine. Bitter but malty flavor with a touch of citrus, but its quite one dimensional.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MmmcKay (841) - Brentwood, Tennessee, USA - NOV 29, 2010
Drank at the Boscos Cool Springs in Franklin, TN. Pour is amber with some dark brown. Nose is spicy hoppy. Not very floral. Seems to be more British in style. Not as intense as many. Oddly enough, I liked it more as I drank more.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Strykzone (2906) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - AUG 2, 2010
Sample at Boscos Squared in Memphis. Gold with copper. Tart citrus aroma. Flavor is similar and is bitter. Perhaps Cascade? There is some light pepper spice, bread, and caramel. Well hopped and a nice IPA.

Clear orange with no head. Mild citrus hops aroma and an earthy bitterness with a crisp grapefruit finish.

On tap at the brewpub in Nashville. Deep amber in color with a nice lasting off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is caramel malt and resinous and citrusy hops. Not terribly hoppy, but for a British IPA that’s acceptable. Flavor is good and balanced. Caramel and toffee malt notes as well as citrusy and resinous hops. A little pine. Medium-full bodied with some hop oils on the palate. A pretty solid British IPA overall. Surprisingly good for a random brewpub in Nashville.
