COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
During the 1800's, when the sun never set on the British Empire, beer being shipped to the Far East always arrived spoiled. To correct the situation, British brewers added large quantities of hops to their pale ales. (Hops act as a natural preservative in beer). The result is an intensely hoppy amber beer. I’m rating this from memory. I didn’t have my notepad with me. But I can say that this brew is ok, but there are others that I would drink before this one. Not bad, but not great, either.

Bosco’s India Pale Ale - On Tap: Great lacing, with grapefruit aroma leading the nose. The finish lacks somewhat. Good IPA, though certainly nothing to brag about.

On tap at the Memphis location. Bright gold with thin head. Very typical citrus and pine aromas. Tastes a bit sweeter than most IPA’s yet no as balanced as some. Finishes with lingering bitterness.

The best micro in Nashville, and one of the better IPA’s being produced on the east coast. Even better from the cask...

I’ll have to say that this is one of the better IPAs I’ve had brewed in the South. Nice level of hoppiness, great carbonation.

Very hoppy and refreshing, but I know you know that. It’s good.

Would have made the sea journey from Britain to India. Bitter (Boscos says at IPU around 58) but balanced.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2006 My 2nd favorite Boscos brew that is served year round. Hoppy and tasty. The cask conditioned version allows me to rate it this high.

Hazy, dark golden color with a thick, offwhite head. Nice hop-dominated nose. A nicely balanced, easy-to-drink IPA. A bit earthy and dry aftertaste.

I had this on tap in Memphis at the brewery. It was clear golden amber color. The hop aroma was not as strong as I would have expected from an IPA. It is very bitter and not balanced for what a IPA should be. Not a big fan.
