COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In German, “hefe” means yeast, “weizen” means wheat. This unfiltered German-style wheat beer is light bodied but full flavored. The strain of yeast used to ferment the beer adds unique flavors perceived as fruity (citrus or banana), cloves, and even bubble gum. O.G. 1046 I.B.U. 10

Appearance: Served up at my table a haze, pale light yellow body with a little bit of white fizz up top. Modest lacing.

Smell: Soft aroma of wheat malt overlayed with notes of spice (clove) and Big League Chew.

Taste: Minor graininess incorporated within the light malted wheat flavor. Some sweet wildflower honey accents. The anticipated spicy clove and bubblegum, though not much in the way of banana esters. Semi-dry finish, scantly creamyish with a continued wheat taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium to medium-light carbonation.

Overall: Decent enough. As with many of the Boscos brew, it’s just okay.

Draft at Bosco’s Nashville. Pours yellow with a fair amount of cloudiness and a very thin white head that leaves no lacing. Not much on the nose. Banana notes on the tongue but not much else. Finishes clean. Decent example of style Award winning? Uh no!

Tap @ boscos Nashville - pours a nice cloudy banana, little foam. Some quickly vanishing lacing. Aroma is white fruits, banana, bubble gum, and clove? Taste is a tad sweet. Mouth feel is kind of thin for a hefe, though it does coat the mouth nicely. Overall, solid effort, but not blowing me away.

On tap at the River Market brewpub in Little Rock. They’re claiming this is an "award winning world renowned hefeweizen" and that it won gold at the 2012 World Beer Cup. Pours a hazy gold colored body with a thin, white head that dissipates immediately and leaves no lacing. A bunch of soda pop bubbles on the glass as well. Certainly not a good looking beer. Aroma is crisp wheats and a good amount of lemony citruses as well as a bit of a grainy pale malt, a light banana, and a touch of clove. Flavor is similar. Thinner up front with some wheat malts and a bit of a grainy pale malt backing. Lemony citrus comes in during the middle with a hint of banana. A touch of clove towards the end as this finishes with a good amount of lemony citruses, a thin wheat, and a slight dryness leaving a very light bitterness. Medium length aftertaste following a light, thin body and a light carbonation. Overall, a bit of a disappointment. Thin and not very good looking with a decent lemon and wheat backing. Eh.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2012 Location: Draft at Little Rock Brewpub, 3/6/12

Aroma: The aroma is wheat, lemon, clove, other spice and some yeast mostly
Appearance: The pour is rather hazy, looks like pulpless orange juice without any head or lace
Flavor: The taste is mid-plus sweet, with some spice, and a light acidic tartness
Palate: The body is rather light, with a tingly carbonation, and late tart/acidic feel
Overall Impression: This was an alright wheat beer, it has a decdent citrus presence and some light tartness. I didn’t get the banana presence that some of the employees told me to expect. Decent stuff, but unexciting.

Tasted on tap at Nashville brewpub. A nice hazy golden color with fluffy off-white head, somewhat lasting and even a little lace. Aromas of whole-wheat bread, citrus, pepper, clove, slight banana. Tastes of mild barley malt, mellow wheat, restrained bittering and flavor hops, more fruity yeast esters. Light-medium body, spritzy mouthfeel, lingering spicy finish, drier than expected. Tasty and true-to-style, but not a classic.

Sample at the Memphis brewpub. Clear gold with a small white head. A classic interpretation. Nice cloves and cool zest. Just a hint of hops with some soft bitterness. A simple and likable beer.
