3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the Nashville location. Poured a clear amber color with a fluffy, white head. The aroma was malty, with only a faint hint of hops. Mainly floral notes in the hint. The flavor was honey, spices, citrus hops and a sweet malt base. This wasn’t quite as hoppy as one might expect given the name, but it was a very good beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Best of the lot I had today on tap at Memphis. Aroma typical of a west coast IPA. Flavor has a strange fruit note that is outside the citric realm I would associate with this style, ending with a crisp finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at the Cool Springs location. Eggshell head that faded leaving minimal legs. Could have been a detergent issue. Body was a nice clover honey color. Citrus and spice hops on the nose. Same goes for the flavor but with a honey sweetness. Finish was decently bitter but not nearly as bitter as I had hoped or expected.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap, 16 oz. Shaker glass, Nashville Brewpub. Copper color. Totally diminishing white head. I was expecting this to be more over-the-top with a name like Hop God, but I guess they went for an expression of divine equanimity instead of power. This beer is wonderfully balanced, and though it feels a bit soft for a beer with 72 IBUs, it is not disappointing at all. Grapefruit and spicy hops aroma leavened with some cookie-ish malt, grass, and slight vanilla smells. Good malt backbone; sugar cookie sweetness balances the slightly salty, lemony and grapefruity hops and the bitter salty finish (which only gets slightly metallic at the end). Medium bodied.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Bosco’s, Little Rock, Arkansas. Nice copper pour, with a tan, foamy head. Nose was citrus and hops resin. Flavor was citrusy and the ale had a nice, hoppy finish, though not as hoppy as I prefer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer poored an inemic white head on a copper colored body. The areoma was a little weak with hints of citrus predominating. Flavor was nice with a good malt backbone and nicely hopped.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. A nice gold color with a short white head and lacing. The aroma has pine, grass, and some honey. The flavor has some hops up front and through the flavor, along with some malt and a little bit of spice on the aftertaste.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2007 Loved this beer! This beer turned me on to imperial IPA’s (although technically IPA, very, very hoppy) for which I am eternally grateful. Re-rate: Spectacular!! Hall of Fame.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewery in Franklin. Touted as a double IPA and hoppier than their Bombay IPA. Light amber color. Mild hop aroma - clean noble hops. Hop taste is also quite mild and easy to drink. More drinkable than the Bombay, would be great on cask, but too mild to be a DIPA.
