MMM...Beer (385), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 3, 2004 -Aroma: Elegant nose full of roasted malt and hints of coffee
-Appearance: Deep brown with a nice, thick, tan head
-Flavor: Again with the roasted malts and coffee with hints of liquor that welcomingly warm the belly
-Palate: Nice and bitter, as a SA should be, with a hint of spiciness
-Overall Impression: I was a little aprhensive of this one when I saw it on the menu, simply because scottish ales tend to be a hit-or-miss and micros. However, I thought this one was spot on.
BMan1113VR (1156), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Oct 5, 2008 On tap in Little Rock. Pours a hazy deepe brown with a small, off-white, fluffy head, that leaves a ring and decent lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, vanilla and peat. Taste is slightly astringent and dirty with wood and peat. Lively bubbles. Butters (573), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 15, 2008 First semi-impressive beer I had from boscos. Rich malt profile is balanced with the hop flavor. Some smoke qualities as well. nqualls (575), Tennessee, USA Aug 25, 2008 Poured a dark amber color with a huge head. Smell is peat moss, malt and some smoke. Taste is smokey. Very good example of a scottish ale. My favorite draft of the night. illinismitty (1476), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 25, 2008 This must have been the bottom of the keg, because the pour was a very light muddy brown. Aroma of dark roasted malts. Medium light bodied with a minerally texture. Flavor of dark roasted malts and cocoa powder, with a slight astringent finish. Very dry. This needs a rerate travita (800), Lewisville, Texas, USA May 29, 2008 My favorite beer of the night when I was at Bosco’s. Dark red , hazy, with a good head and lacing.
