Nashville rating follows. The body is a very dark copper with a light khaki colored head. The aroma was sweet maple with wood and cherries. There was also a hint of smoke. The taste was fairly smoky and dry. This was unexpected after the aroma. There was tobacco and coffee in the taste. Low on the carbonation. BBB63 (4283), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 27, 2003 On tap in Nashville - Beautiful color and head, some lacing , medium-bodied. Very malty nose, detected vanilla, spice, coffee, and a bit of fruitiness. Did not however detected any "scotch" characteristics. Good sweet/bitter combo and finished dry. May not be a true scottish style ale, but a fine beer neverless. beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2006 Tasted on tap at Nashville Brewpub. This Scottish ale pours a dark copper mahogany color. Small sized tan foamy head. Aroma is malt, peat, and sweet, with a hint of vanilla. A medium bodied Scottish ale. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops are earthy. Nice balance. Malty tasting without being too sweet. Touch of smoke at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
