Draft at Nashville. Pours a copper amber with a nice off-white head with pale yellow hues. Floral and citrus hop aroma. Medium bodied with soft fine carbonation. The mild toffee malt profile is way in the background, and this has very little residual sweetness. The bitterness jumps right at you, which is spicy and peppery. You pick up some citrus (lemon and grapefruit) mid palate. The bitterness transforms on the finish, which becomes more herbal and dry. That dry resiny texture lingers for quite a while. This is a hoppy beer, and very uncharacteristic of Fred. Perhaps Jonathan was responsible for the IBU’s. I am not complaining, I have not had a local hoppy beer since HopGod. I hope this is a trend , because I like hops.

Draft in Nashville. Orange to light brown in the glass with a lasting off-white head. Good lacing. Slight subdue aroma of hoppy floral mix. Nice hoppy and spice flavor. Maintains a moderate bitterness throughout. Medium body and smooth texture. (Rating from 6 Sep 07)

On tap, Nashville brewpub. Hazy deep orange with a fluffy, shiny, chemical-looking head and thick layer of lace. First impressions: Very fruity pale ale at first, like flowery herbal grapefruit. Settles into a straightforward bitterness that emerges a little after the swallow. Finsih lingers for a long time and doesn’t get metallic. Would be good with spicy pizza. Deeper: The fruit is a little bit apparent on the weak aroma, which mostly evokes powdery malts. Damn, the bitterness in the finish lingers for a long time; we’re going on a full two minutes now, very nice. Medium bodied. The grapefruit mainline is surrounded by some peaches and cream, a lactic sweetness that lingers into the finish to flank the bitterness. Finish begins salty. More rounded and fruity than Sierra Nevada with a nice softness about it that pervades each aspect.
