COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This American Style brown ale has a more distinct hop character than its English counterparts. The nutty flavor comes from the chocolate and crystal malts used in the recipe.

Draft at Cool Springs location. (Listed as just Brown Ale on the menu but also the 2001 GABF Bronze Medal winner which after searching the GABF records is the Midtown Brown) Brown in the glass with a frothy off-white head that had a thin layer lasting. Sweet malty aroma. The flavor found toasted malts, nut, and hints of cherry. Medium body and sweet.

Cloudy dark caramel. Light nose of cereal amd brown sugar. Caramel and nut flavors on a medium-full bodied, well rounded palate. Browns aren’t my favorite, i find them thin often, but this one holds up really well.

On draught. Light brown pour with a tiny off white head. Aroma of faint malt and hazelnut. Thin mouthfeel, not much to this one. A session for sure with nothing that stands out.

Aroma: This one has a nose that is roasty, nutty and caramel malts
Appearance: It pours a clear copper-brown color with a small beige head and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet and light bitter, with mostly roast and toast malts
Palate: The body is light-medium with a somewhat smooth mouthfeel and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: This one is on style fine enough, but that’s about it. It’s not a particularly exciting offering, but it isn’t bad either.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a moderate chestnut brown color with a slight off white head. Nose brings a slight nutty character as well as some lightly roasted malt. Taste is light caramel with hints of nut. Slight flavors of toasted bread. Mouthfeel is fairly light, with the body bordering on medium and having a fairly light amount of carbonation. Very little aroma, slight pine in the nose. Appearance is a little light for a brown ale. Flavor is dry and bitter, woody. Not pleasing like a nut brown should be, but it does have the dryness that is usually imparted by the nuts.

12/26/10. On tap at the Nashville location, labeled as Hillsboro Brown. Clear brownish red pour with a small white head. Weak chocolate nutty aroma. Very weak and watery chocolate and nut flavor. Clean, but watery. Very thin mouthfeel.
