COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boscos' Oktoberfest has an almost spicy palate that comes from the use of specially toasted malts referred to as "Munich" malts. Deep golden in color, the sweetness of the beer is balanced by German Northern Brewer and Hallertau hops.

Location: Draft at Little Rock Brewpub, 10/5/11

Aroma: The nose has caramel, biscuit, grass, and earth
Appearance: This one pours a copper color with a white head
Flavor: The taste is somewhat sweet, with a nice hop presence to it
Palate: The body is light-medium, and a has a pretty good mouthfeel
Overall Impression: It looks like I’m going to be the aberration here, because I thought this was one of the better Oktoberfests that I have had recently. I enjoyed that it was a little more balanced than many other Oktoberfests. Granted, I usually don’t love the style, but I really enjoyed this one, and I was surprised to see the overall score sitting at 38. It is definitely better than that!

[Tap] Pours a clear golden color with a nice cap of white head. The aroma is of cereal grains, biscuit and some grassy hops. The taste is of sweet light malts and relatively high hop bitterness for the style. Not much of a spicy or toasted quality here. The palate is a bit thin. Average carbonation. Overall, not one of their best beers.

On tap in Little Rock. Pours a clear golden (not to style) with a small ring of head. Aroma of corn, caramel, and very sweeet. Taste is sweet and caramelly with a bit of fruits. Shar bubbles and a relatively dry mouthfeel. Not bad, but nothing special.

This, again, is not my favorite style, but very good. Nice off white head, good lacing. Nice malty flavor.

Draft at Nashville location. Red amber in the glass with a creamy white head that left some lacing. The aroma was somewhat subdue but light malts and spices were picked out. The flavor found orange citrus at first but then some spices and roasted malts. Medium body with a slightly creamy texture. Sweet in the mouth with a mild bitter ending.

Draft at Nashville. Not a fan. This is probably the worst beer I’ve had at Boscos. I’ve had quite a few oktoberfests lately, so I had good comparison points fresh in the mind. Smells creamy, reminiscent of peachy grains and white cake. Looks sketchy; the head looks like some type of chemical foam, grayish yellow, with bubbles that shimmer like oil in water. Leaves a sticky lace and a sudsy dusting. Clear amber in the glass. First cut impression: sharp, blue cheese; fizzy, watery, and thin. After that, the metallic hops that run all the way through this just take over, I can’t get away from them. Oxidized! Maybe they haven’t cleaned the lines in a while. At first, I couldn’t find any malt presence; eventually, I noticed some acrid brown sugar. I adjusted the score up because the suckitude mellows as the beer warms (or maybe it just beats you into submission). Either way, it gets some points back.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2006 On tap at Nashville with Springslicker. Pours hazy red brown with a white head. Aroma of spicy Eureopean hops, but faint. Medium malty flavor of Munich malts, along with some toastiness and sweetness. Spicy hop finish, along with some faint butterscotch notes. Not to bad.

On tap at the Nashville brewpub. Nice copper color with a long lasting white head. Hop aroma is quite pronounced for an Oktoberfest. The hops give this a dry bite and finish. Needs just a bit of juicy malt to balance this out.
