Strong-style English Ale is a favorite of those who love intense beer flavors. Malty and hoppy with a hint of fruitiness, the elevated alcohol content is also noticeable in the flavor profile.

On tap. Poured deep amber with a swirly beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter dark fruits, toffee, and some fruity hops.. I didn’t get much "English" in the nose.. OK. The flavor found lots of fruity stuff again, with caramel and molasses helping to support.. berry seeds and peppery alcohol on the edges.. finished warm and fruity. Medium-bodied with low carbonation.. too sharp at times.

Pours clear brown from bottle conditioned bottle with one finger head leaving little lacing. Boozy and caramel up front with a little burn in the throat. Very carbonated that brings complex flavors to the palate. Some sour and bitterness balances the initial sweetness. Some funk with dark fruit . Long bitter finish. This is intense and perhaps too complex for my palate.

On tap at the Nashville brewpub. Pours a clear dark brown color with reddish hues and a well-formed off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel dark fruits, and mild hop notes. Flavor is very malty and fruity, and probably the sweetest beer I had at Bosco’s. Sugar plum and raisin, caramel and toffee, with some hop bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied with medium-low carbonation. A nice beer overall, but not one of my favorites from Bosco’s.

On tap at Memphis. I had this one when I first went to Boscos and was less than impressed. Recipe change or something has really happened. A deep brown ale with a tan head that reminds me so much of the best Fuller’s 1845 I ever had. Big hop aroma, with a bit of smoke, and an obvious load of caramel which translates into a big chewy beer. The alcohol is well integrated, and it is too easy to love and too hard to stop at one.

Pours red amber with a foamy beige head that fades eventually. Aroma is sweet and not much else. Cherry cough syrup taste. The bitter roast finish is not pleasant in this one.

Aroma: Caramel malt dominates the nose, with hints of earthy hops.
Flavor: Very malty. Caramel and toffee.

On draft at hillsboro village. Pours a beautiful clear rust color, with good dark tan head and decent lacing. Nose is corn and dark grains and sweet alcohol fusuel burn. Rum soaked fruits and bourbon notes. Medium body and cloying. Tastes like alcohol burn. Pass. Cool name though.
