Because of limited time and tank space, Boscos very rarely makes lager beer. The vast majority of our beers are ales. However, our business is slower in the summer and this allows us to work a few lagers into our brewing schedule. Boscos Special Lager is broadly in the “Dortmund Export” style. This soft, rounded lager originated in the Ruhr section of Germany. Although hops are evident in the beer, the emphasis is on the malt character.

Draft at brewpub. Pours golden, with a wisp of a white head. Faint yeast and pale malt aroma. This has a very prounced malt profile, nicely offset by what appears to be spicy european hops. Very bold flavors for this style. Nicely done and not watery like other brewpubs who attempt these types of beers.
