Bottle... NTB Ernesto Festo ’06... Clear mahogany lager with a small, fizzy, beige head. Decent, creamy retention. Malty aroma with notes of clover honey, dates and splashes of caramel and sweat. Rich, dark malts and mild hops on the palate. A blend of clover honey, sorghum molasses and maple syrup... Just enough bitterness to prevent the sweetness from being cloying. Medium-bodied and lightly oily with pillow-soft carbonation. Lengthy, sweet finish. Kenb gets a pat on the back for shipping this rare one my way!

jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - SEP 3, 2006
Bottled. Sweet aroma with chocolat malts and a hint of sourness. Dark brown color, light brown head, cloying, good lace. Very sweet, sugar, nutty, chocolat, light bitter, light roasted but more in the very finish. Sticky and a bit thin. Candy-like but I didn’t dislike it. Especially compared to other Polish beers.

Brown color. Strong licorice aroma. Licorice and chocolate in the sweet flavor. Not 100% malty. I can taste sugar and apple syrup. Perfumed, but I drank this beer with pleasure.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2006 500 ml bottle. From Liquid Solutions. (thanks for the recommendation Matt!) Chilled for 1 hour. Clear dark Mahoganey color. 3 in" beige head that leaves a LOT of lace. Spicey, fruity, malty caramel aroma with a hint of vanilla. Taste has notes of plums, raisins, cherries, and coffee. Very smooth and sweet malty finish followed by some almond at the end. well-balanced as the wonderful aromatic noble hops do come through in the finish and the aftertaste. I really, really, really like this beer, and will be seeking out more. My only complaint is that it is a bit lightbodied..but it is a BOCK, not a dopplebock, so will let that slide and simply consider it a great tastey beer.

Very odd one, don’t even know if it hasn’t gone out, but checked "best before" area twice and it says november ’06. Anyway, pours brown with thick head, suprrisingly opaque - hmm, bockweizen or what? Weird, very acidic taste, with strong notes of caramel and some maltiness in finish - very strong and sophisticated flavour. One of the most weird Polish beers I tried, especially when compared to other bocks brewed in my homeland, but still worth checking out because of its definitely rich taste. Slightly too acidic for my liking.

Treacle and malt aromas, very dark copper, pours a tiny tan head. Subtle malt flavour, with treacle and some caramel. Medium bodied, quite a robust sweetness. Terrific! Thank You Radek.

Bottle. Pours a brown-reddish-copper with a small white head. The aroma has caramel and rye bread with metallic notes. Caramel sweetness is apparent along with bread and nutty flavour. Medium body. Pretty good.

Bottle shared by Radek on Canada Day ’06 with the regular fine folks. Very dark brown, creamy head. Nice aroma, really sweet, roasty, molasses. Smokey, soy sauce, dark malt taste. Lingering woody hops, earthy - a really great linger. A little thin, but that’s what Dunkels are, right? Hints of BBQ sauce, grease. I found this complex and very enjoyable, one of best Dunkels I have had.

Bottle shared with the usual suspects - courtesy of Radek. Ruby-brown with a wispy tan head. Aroma of coffee, nuts, malt and dried tobacco. Flavour is quite sweet with malt, coffee, cocoa, wood & nuts. It’s a bit thin, but otherwise, I enjoyed it.

Bottle (500ml). Shared with GregClow, tupalev, DougShoemaker, mds, Radek and others - Radek’s bottle. Poured clear mahogany with a small creamy beige head. Sweet, nutty roast malt aroma with plum and slightly tart tree fruits lurking. Taste is fruitier than the aroma, almost like prune juice, plentiful thick sweet lightly roasty malt, and a little hop bitterness in the finish. I felt the body was quite enough, it was a little syrupy and flat, but I quite enjoyed it ... I’m no expert on dunkels though.
