COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Hazzard Ten Ale

Loaded Cannon Ale - If you’re a fizzy yellow beer drinker this is definitely not for you. With an alcohol content of 10% it is the strongest beer brewed in South Africa, the most defining character however is it’s flavour. It is dark red in colour, has a thick creamy head, and a strong malty character. The sweetness has been balanced by adding large amounts of hops to the beer after fermentation, a process called dry hopping. It’s definitely the beer that is the most fun to make.

I made this for my cooler evenings. Please consume with care.

Only available in 340ml bottles.

10% alc/vol. Ingredients - Malted Barley (pale, crystal), Roasted barley, Sugar, Hops (Styrian, Southern Promise, Hallertauer Northen Brewer), Water, Yeast

Bottle from Tops @ Spar, Cape Town. Clear amber pour, thin white head. Aroma full of unfermatable sugars, some caramel. Flavor is overly sweet, a bit alcoholic and one dimensional. More like a malt liquor, without any complexity.

Pours a dark copper with lots of bubbles! A thick head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of hops and spiciness with a bit of malty sweetness and some fruitiness. Full bodied, creamy with a beautiful round taste. Initial malty taste, that is replaced with a dry, slightly salty, medium bitter end that lingers for a bit. The hops feature well. A slight bit of alcohol warming with a spicy, peppery taste from the alcohol. For the amount of bubbles visible in the glass, the carbonation on the tongue is surprisingly low. My only problem is that, because of the high ABV, I will not be able to quaff 12 of these. Otherwise a very very good ale.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2012 Bottle at 12 degrees C. A slightly cloudy light red amber colour with a small bubbly tanned head. An aroma of caramel and fruit. The taste is really sweet and fruity. A medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation and a medium long light alcoholic duration. A really nice American Strong Ale.

ya! south africa gets hardcore! ... . pours a beautiful tawny brown colour with a creamy medium head pool, covers nicely ... smell is of light caramel and fine cognac soaked korn flakes .. .. amazingly smooth .. .. clean, so clean, CLEAN, nice finish but the aftertaste for a beer of this heat, very impressive .. scary abv cover-up ... thank you boston!
